Adriano Faria Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Didn't find the option to hide an APP tab (like Calendar) on menu to specific groups.Where do I set which user groups can view the tab ?
bfarber Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 You can control which groups can access the application (click to turn it offline and you will be able to set who can still access it), but you can't hide the tab without removing access.
Adriano Faria Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 You can control which groups can access the application (click to turn it offline and you will be able to set who can still access it), but you can't hide the tab without removing access. So now to hide DOWNLOADS tab from guests I have to disable the app and give access in offline mode to everybody else ?That's not what I want and that's not the same thing. I want to do what I can do in 3.4: I want to hide a tab from any app without put the app offline, obviously!
jackflash Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I hope that we're missing something in translation here.
Adriano Faria Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 I hope that we're missing something in translation here. Unfortunately, don't. I tested it out. You can only remove the tab from a group when you put the app offline! When you put it online again, the tab is back!
jackflash Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Unfortunately, don't. I tested it out. You can only remove the tab from a group when you put the app offline! When you put it online again, the tab is back! That's goofy. Does this mean that you cannot hide a certain tab from guests or certain user groups?
bfarber Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 An internal report was recently opened to investigate adding the ability to hide tabs from specific groups.

TSP Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I also like to hide some tabs even though I may still have access. For instance, on one community we have IP.Blog, but it's not a section we want to promote or clutter the menu with anymore. But we still want old links to it to work and that menbers that know about it can still use the section. The same is true for Tracker that is installed. We don't want to have it in the main menu, it is instead a forum redirect in the feedback-section of our board. In 3.4 we also hide the members tab as that section doesn't provide much usefullnes for non-advanced members. IPS often ask for examples of usage, so these are mine
Adriano Faria Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 An internal report was recently opened to investigate adding the ability to hide tabs from specific groups.3 Betas (+ a few sub-versions) and 2 months later, didn't find it on Beta 6. Isn't it still a feature ?
