  1. Heyooo! Appreciate you offering one of the first pieces of feedback! Truth be told, we haven't raised our prices in more than a decade. We held off for a long time because we didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I know that's not the greatest answer in the world, but we want to be as transparent as possible with all of you. We want to remain a powerhouse community platform on the Internet, and this is one route we had to take to do so. I'm here to talk things out further, or, if you'd like to PM me, please feel free to do that as well. Same goes for anyone reading this. 🙏
  2. Ahhh my test to make sure people were paying attention worked! 😏 Lol jk. I'm seeing double today. Thanks @Adlago!
  3. Happy Hump Day, team! We just rolled out 4.6.6 today 🔥 Hats off to our developers for smashing this update out of the park! The update is available for all. We don't expect for you to run into any issues, but please ensure you have working backups. ™️ Sink your teeth into the goodness: - Upgraded CKEditor to 4.16.2. - Fixed an issue where it was possible to receive multiple subscription free trials. - Fixed an issue where creating a member moderator with a visible badge could break the view - Fixed an issue sending a push notification when a new badge is earned. - Fixed an issue where `created_externally` flagged accounts may be deleted when awaiting validation, where it may be desirable to keep them. - Fixed an issue with the AdminCP menu manager not displaying dropdowns in some situations. - Changed new PayPal subscriptions to not collect previous period charge on next cycle if the previous cycle failed. - Fixed an issue where the widget data weren't updated while application upgrades. - Improved online member widgets to show the viewing user when they are not anonymous when the block is cached. Normally I have more to share, but right now myself and the team are hard at work on putting the finishing touches on our website refresh. The update will blow your socks off! And hey, while I've got you, check out our new blog post about an update to Clubs and Activity Streams. Stay tuned!
  4. It’s been a minute since our last blog post, but we have cooked up several epic projects in the interim. To refresh your memory, we recently launched a new platform update, 4.6. It includes *takes a deep breath* Achievements, Zapier integration, web app and push notifications, anonymous posting, solved content, the ability to show when a team member has replied, a new health dashboard, spam improvements and more. In the time since, we prepared a few special treats for you. Before we dive into the feature feast, sample our forthcoming website refresh. In the very near future, our entire website will slip into something a little more comfortable. Not only will the look and feel change, but we’re implementing new sections to explain how and why Invision Community is any business’ go-to- solution for community building. More on that to come, but for now take a bite out of this: Onto the feature updates; hope you’re hungry! Extended closed Club functionality Clubs with ‘closed’ permissions have more flexibility than ever. Now, the owner of a closed club can opt to have the club’s forums, calendar, pages, gallery and downloads be visible for all to see (despite the club being set to closed). Previously, members could not access any part of a closed club unless they joined. For example, a closed club leader could create a special landing page that’s viewable by members who have not yet joined the club, but the rest of the club is closed. This might be useful as a means to encourage someone to join, share information that’s pertinent to those in and out of the club or as a sales tool. Another example could be keeping the club-associated forums visible for all, but keep the club’s calendar and image gallery exclusive to the club’s members as an incentive to join. Gobble up this screengrab below: Subscribe to Activity Streams Never skip a beat! Members of a community can now subscribe to any default or custom activity stream (minus the All Activity Stream) and receive either daily or weekly email notifications with a roundup of content they may have missed. This is especially useful for die-hard community members and moderators who frequently consume content. By subscribing to an activity stream, members have important, need-to-know items they’re interested in delivered straight to their inbox. Community administrators have the option to limit how many activity streams a member can subscribe to. Because email notifications are inherently intimate, we have also implemented something called stream decay. If the user hasn't visited the site for a predefined amount of time, the activity stream email notifications they previously subscribed to will automatically stop until the member re-engages with the community by visiting. Pretty nifty, right? Health Club Since you’ve made it to the bottom of this blog post, sink your teeth into dessert. Sugar free, of course! We recently launched a new Health Club. It’s free to join and available for all Invision Community clients. This is a great opportunity for you to connect with other community leaders in the industry, as well as our own team, through the important modality of physical and mental health. The world is in a weird spot right now; please utilize this club to lean on one another for support, give advice, ask questions and share your health wins and missteps. As cheesy as it sounds, upping your general well-being will make you a better community leader and ultimately elevate your community as a whole. Just some food for thought! The new Club and Activity Stream features will be made available in September. Questions? Comments? Feedback? Drop us a crumb in the comments - we’d love to hear from you! Header photo: Unsplash
  5. September 1, 2021 Happy Hump Day, team! I'm going to keep it brief this week because... we have a new blog post on the way! This blog post, out Friday, will formally announce a new feature we developed for Activity Streams and a separate one for Clubs. 🤫 That's all I can say... for now 😏 In the interim, please check out a list of updates and fixes the developers worked hard on since last week's HD post: - Fixed the group wait time setting not showing the correct value. - Changed lost password reset links to be valid for 1 hour. - Fixed an issue where the new rank mobile notification throws an error - Fixed an issue where upgrading to a package with a longer initial term would not extend the expiry date. - Fixed an issue where category edit permissions would override the moderator edit permission. - Changed lost password reset links to be valid for 1 hour. - Added support for Argon2id encryption which was added to vB 5.6.2. - Fixed an issue where content controllers wouldn't find comments that are archived and stored in a separate archive database. - Fixed an issue where the new rank mobile notification throws an error. - Removed few occurrences from the 4.6 removed notification sounds setting. - Fixed an issue re-activating a purchased file if the original invoice or currency does not exist. - Fixed an issue in the Achievements Rebuild Routine which would result in an exception while the rebuild. - Fixed an issue where the 'solutions' table on a members profile would not paginate. - Upgraded CKEditor to 4.16.2. - Fixed an issue where it was possible to receive multiple subscription free trials. Speaking of Clubs... if you haven't already, please join our new Health Club. It's a great way to connect with our team and other Invision Community clients in an effort to become better. See you on Friday when the new blog post goes live! 🎉 Questions? Comments? Drop us a line in the comments. Happy September!
  6. I like where your head is at, but I think this might be a can of worms lol 😅 Some things in my opinion need to remain behind the curtain until we are 100% ready to share. 😇 But taking a step back at the full list 1-4 you shared, I do agree with the sentiment. We are always working towards being more transparent with the community.
  7. Thanks for the insight! Def a step in the right direction. We had a hiccup with AWS this week so we felt it was important to launch this effort to keep clients in the loop. Things are much more stable now 🙂 Also, we are discussing a few ideas regarding the cadence of when fixes/updates go live. We want to make that aspect more predictable so you all know when to expect things. 👍
  8. 8/25/2021 Happy Hump Day, team! I wanted to share our new uptime status checker. https://status.invisioncommunity.com Those who've opted for one of our Cloud plans can now track up and downtime. If your community is experiencing downtime, feel free to check this page before submitting a ticket. 😃 You can also subscribe to receive updates via email as well so you're always in the know. A link to this status checker will be included in the Client Area on our website refresh (launching in September). There's a section that details a history of what's transpired. Check it out and let us know what you think. --- We recently launched a Health Club utilizing our clubs feature. Greatly appreciate everyone who's joined and contributed thus far. I know the content isn't necessarily related to our platform and it may feel like we're cluttering up your All Activity Stream, but I do firmly believe being healthier translates into bettering your community. It's cheesy, but being your best self offline helps your presence online and in your community. If you haven't already, please give the Club a visit and join. You may be surprised. --- Shifting gears here. In the past week, the dev team slayed a number of fixes and updates to the platform. Sink your teeth into the latest and greatest: - Fixed the group search flood control setting not showing the correct value. - Improved catching errors that 3rd party hook may throw. - Fixed issue where the AdminCP Search Activity statistics restriction wouldn't cause a corresponding in the menu to appear. - Fixed an issue where search pagination can lose quick search and node parameters. - Fixed some missing language strings in Member History when looking at badges/points. - Fixed an error being generated when viewing Member history. - Fixed a PHP 8 specific issue that could cause an exception when viewing a product with reviews. - Fixed an issue upgrading from a really old version of Gallery. - Fixed an issue where Stripe JS may be loaded more than once. - Fixed the group wait time setting not showing the correct value. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Drop us a line in the comments. We'd love to hear from you! Happy Hump Day, fam.
  9. Nice suggestions! Especially the table of contents. Curious about that one. Can you show me an example please of an entry that's large enough where a ToC would be beneficial? I'd like to see that. Thank you again!
  10. That's an interesting mission statement 😜 Lol some time in September.
  11. 🥲 Love all of this! Just checked out your community. 🔥 A fellow music community leader 👏
  12. Happy Hump Day, team! In September, we're launching our refreshed website. You're going to love it! (Hopefully) it will inspire others to start their community building journey with us. We are working on our new homepage right now, and one thing we're discussing as a team is Invision Community's mission statement. Per Forbes, a great mission statement answers: What do we do? How do we do it? Whom do we do it for? What value are we bringing? If you visit our current homepage, you will see this: Successful Communities Start Here We help businesses and brands of all sizes increase customer loyalty, reduce support costs and drive sales by building a vibrant community. It got me thinking... have you had a chance to think of your own community's mission statement? If so, what is it? How do you tell members or someone visiting for the first time exactly who you are in 1-2 sentences? I'm interested to hear what you all have come up with. If you don't have one, this might be a great idea to make one, share it and get feedback! Alright, now time for the juicy updates and fixes our talented dev team have accomplished in the last seven days: - Fixed an issue running a conversion on PHP 8. - Fixed a minor typo when processing an RSS import. - Fixed an issue where an automatically deleted notice may be shown on a member in AdminCP but the account isn't queued for deletion. - Fixed an issue where a failed file move could delete the filenames of Reactions. - Fixed editor becoming unresponsive when inserting attachments into the editor. - Fixed an issue where the AdminCP member list may be slow to load. - Fixed an issue where search statistics in the ACP can be slow to generate. - Fixed social login buttons not working on the register form when using quick registration. - Fixed an issue where saving changes to an Easy Mode theme might fail due to an error. - Fixed an issue with the REST API where it may be possible for hidden comments to be seen. - Fixed an issue where the health dashboard error log chart may not be accurate. - Fixed an issue where achievement excluded groups still show in the widgets. - Improved performance of hiding/unhiding/deleting topics. - Fixed an issue where Achievements notifications loaded via the REST API may be attributed to a guest. - Fixed an issue where deleting a product filter wouldn't delete all the language strings. Looking forward to hearing from you!
  13. 🤯 Can't thank you enough for taking the time to offer all this great feedback! I love this idea because I personally can relate. The community 99% of the time will post information before the official team/staff does. It would be pretty cool to plug the already-existing comments into a news article. Writing this idea down :] 🤲
  14. Love this in particular! Appreciate all the other points as well.
  15. Liking what I'm seeing! The ones that jump out at me first are: more possibilities for interaction with our community in articles - polls, surveys, forms etc. the option to set multiple authors for one article snippet preview at least in ACP SEO items
  16. Happy Hump Day, team! Dayum, is it just me or are the weeks flying by? It's probably because we're hard at work on a lot of exciting projects, including our website refresh (out sooner than later, stay tuned!), improvements to Spam defense, Achievements refinements and more. If you haven't already, follow us on Twitter and shoot us a Tweet. Shout-out to @Jimi Wikman for his post about a tickets system using Pages. Internally, we're brainstorming new ideas for the future of Pages. It's down the road, but we'd like to up our game. The more ideas you all have and share... the better! As always, here's a roundup of the latest updates/fixes/changes we made in the last week. Mad props 👏: - When building applications on Windows, Javascript/Themes imports will use \n line endings. - Fixed an issue where weekly recurring events with no end date could display one day off. - Fixed birthdays not showing on the initial Calendar view when only one calendar is present. - Fixed an issue where the CVC/Address/ZIP checks were unavailable on Stripe payment intents in the AdminCP. - Fixed an issue where following a member can send a notification if you choose to follow anonymously. - Fixed an error when a restricted admin attempted to add moderators. - Fixed an issue where some admin control panel profile blocks could show if the features were disabled. - Fixed an issue where a large file description may not save if it is larger than 64kb. - Fixed an issue where not all forums could show when creating topic and post feed widgets. - Fixed an issue editing hooks IN_DEV when using PHP 8. - Fixed a database error caused by long shipping service names. - Fixed an issue where the CVC/Address/ZIP checks were unavailable on Stripe payment intents in the AdminCP. - Fixed an issue where videos attachments that are not supported by a browser may not be downloadable. - Removed few occurrences from the in 4.6 removed notification sounds setting. - Added a new Published column to track the date for new versions of a file. - Added grouping to approved content push notifications. - Fixed an issue where a view update task may attempt to connect to Redis when Redis is not used. - Fixed an issue where it was not possible to post status updates if the ability to follow a member was disabled. - Removed few occurrences from the in 4.6 removed notification sounds setting. - Fixed an issue where the topic sync background task may get stuck in a loop. - Fixed an issue where rare badges calculated with all members, and not just those permitted to use achievements. - Fixed an issue where the 'follow member' achievement rule didn't calculate milestones correctly. - Fixed an issue where WebP may be shown as an accepted extension when not fully supported by the server. Thank you all for being a part of Invision Community! If you have any questions, comments, feedback etc., particularly about Pages, please drop us a line in the comments; we'd love to hear from you!
