  1. Hi Mike,

Can you please remind me what I need to do to set the portal as the main landing page?  Have just upgraded to the new version, you advice will be appreciated

Ah! I didn't see this thank you for this information, only problem I have now is that although your plugin is enabled in the ACP and I am currently logged into my forums, this is not appearing in this block art all? Where will I find permission settings etc?

  3. Hi, I have just installed this plugin and although it appears enabled in the ACP under Plugins how do I get the hook to appear on the forums?

  4. I am in the process of upgrading, from version 3.4.8 to the latest version, I hve upload and overwritten all the files as per the instructions but before I even start the upgrade process I have the following error:

    Quote

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /mounted-storage/home114c/sub007/sc18250-QDIV/www/index.php on line 13

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /mounted-storage/home114c/sub007/sc18250-QDIV/www/index.php on line 13

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /mounted-storage/home114c/sub007/sc18250-QDIV/www/index.php on line 13

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

  5. Well worth it for someone who needs a response at the drop of a hat!

IPB is crazy to only double the charge, should at least triple it ... but also guaranty the respose to be within 3 hours.

Are you on commission or something lol

  6. How about like 1 emergency ticket (first priority) every 3 months or something? :)

Now that could work, and you could make them rollover if you don't use them, so after 6 months of non use you would have 2 tickets to use in an emergency, I like that, not sure about the length of time though, only IPS could determine that as they know how bust they are, maybe it could be set to monthly? but at least you would then have a priority, which is was suggesting

  7. That wouldn't really be fair to people if you add a system. People would be sitting for days waiting to get something fixed that they want help on while people with larger problems would always be getting support. The way its set-up is fair. They will get to you when they get a chance. Every customer deserves a fair serving of IPS help.

Fair on who? I mean if you have a major problem and it resorts in your forum being offline! surely if you had a much smaller issue that could wait a little longer would you complain if they dealt with the other person who's forum is totally offline first?

  8. But then we'd be spending time moderating ticket statuses. Seems like the overhead wouldn't be worth the benefit. Everyone considers their issue to be important, understandably, so how would a regular customer know what status they should use?

Yes you could be right, however, you could have a pre - post disclaimer stating a brief explanation of what IPS consider which level to be deemed, this would be just plain common sense in most cases. I appreciate that you will have a few new clients who may get it wrong but on the whole, it could help you guy's in support get thru the tickets quicker and with far less complaints! as complaints could be seen as a negative in the forums in my opinion, which in turn is not good for future customers looking in...

  9. We have tried that before and, would you believe, everyone tagged their tickets as high priority? :)

Things are much faster now than they were even a week or two ago. We put in some internal changes that have streamlined tickets quite a bit.

As I have stated make it clear during submitting the tickets that if abused their ticket will be dropped to the bottom of the pile.

Emergency = Forum Offline for example and NOT small image issues... I just think it would help especially at the moment as there are many threads complaining about response times.
  10. I have read a lot of threads with regard to response times in answering tickets for clients. Could IPS implement EMERGENCY - URGENT - NORMAL - LOW tags or a drop down box to help solve the more urgent cases or even RED - AMBER - GREEN and anyone who abuses the system is dropped down to the lowest level etc..

    Just a thought...

  11. I don't like that. Yes I'm a little biased since I have a Lifetime license, but I think that the Lifetime license shouldn't be excluded because the terms of it are the same as a standard license except that it's "forever" instead of limited to 6 month windows.

With Perpetual, the license holder should be allowed to get it when they are in +Active status (ie, paid $30/year).

I know that IPS wants to convert those into standard licenses, but I think that's a bit shameful to try to reword or reclassify things just to do it.

    I fully agreee...

  12. Are we looking at the correct ticket? Perhaps there's another ticket we're not aware of?

We guarantee a 48-hour turn around on tickets last I checked, so a response in under 30 minutes is well within that time. I'm really not sure how we could make it any quicker than that, in fact. At least with everything going on right now.

Like I said, maybe you have another ticket and we're just not looking at the same issue?

To be fair the last few few tickets that I submitted went several days without reply, and I ended up closing them myself, still no resolve on the skin cache problem, so I just gave up, hoping that I would eventually find the answers in here. So I have to agree that the response times are a lot slower than what I have experienced in the past

  13. The skin contest would be hard to steal because it was for IPB3.0 and even with the beta's and RC's, the 'authors' would have had to keep it up to par until they submitted it for the contest, making it extremely difficult to steal from someone else.

With the smileys, someone could use one that they know is rare to find/see and then claim it as their own. Same with avatars.

Now if the avatars were to be IPB3 specific, like say, it has to be animated and have IPB3 in it, that could work. Same with smilies, although the IPB3 would be hard to squeeze into such a small space. :)

Well yes some good idea's there.

Just think we need some better more up to date graphics, thought this would be a good way of doing it...

  14. What if it's not discovered until after the contest has been over for a couple of years? If the original author can prove ownership, then even if IPS were to remove all traces of it from their software, the damage would already have been done.

Don't get me wrong, I want a few new or updated smiley faces too, as another topic of mine will show. But in there is where the mention of copyright/etc was brought up.

    :)

Well there must be a way around this, no different to skin contest really they use smiles how do we know that they have not be taken from somewhere else....just think we could do with upgrading some of the graphics and a contest would draw interest maybe...

  15. The problem is that someone could come across a really nice one that they haven't seen anywhere else and/or know for a fact that it's painfully rare and submit it, claiming that it's their own design.

Well there is that but that could be included within the contest rules that if found out you would be disqualified or something along those lines. I just think that the default ones are pretty poor
  16. Well there was a fantastic response to the skin contest, how about a smiley or avatar contest as I personally feel that the default ones that come with the forum script are a bit old hat now and we could do with a set of really nice quality png files to be included in future releases, thoughts?...
