  1. Warning to some. If using the option just to convert some columns etc in the utf8 converter it seems to remove some of the indexes. Should imagine large forums as mine would notice straight away (rendered my site useless), but smaller sites may not notice to begin with. Make sure you check the indexes within ACP after running.

  2. Nice job, but now if there are the same theme for desktop and mobile there is a problem in the states without a good 3g connection
    more info: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/400022-ipb-40-different-responsive-theme-for-mobile-devices/

Looking at that skin I cant imagine its gonna load much slower than any designed mobile theme. Therefore the only detriment to this would be something in which you add yourself, for example images being loaded incorrectly for mobile devices. Responsive design caters for all this and is generally the new way in which things are done on the internet.

To name but a few sites:-

    London Transport

    Boston Globe

    Harvard University

    CSS Tricks

    Time Magazine

or maybe something a little more relevant to the situation

    Burning Board

Now I understand your concerns I really do. But you gotta ask yourself, is it really possible that everyone else with far more knowledge than either of us is wrong? My guess would be not.

I guess it would make for an easy hook to do though?

Some communities I host have really paranoid members and some of them don't like the thought about people "stalking" all of their previously submitted content (or other things like which topics they currently read).

I've tried to tell them that technically the stalkers can still find and search their content by using Google for instance, but that argument doesn't seem to help at all

And in the search box, and by hovering over a users username LOL Other than that, completely invisible

  4. As others have said, will make updating things a lot more efficient. Especially as you can see what you are changing straight away and see what it looks like rather than being in ACP, then switchig to front end, the realising its wrong, then switching back to ACP, then going back to check what you just corrected.

As in a button to say "I'm going"? There's no reason it wouldn't work; primarily, it's a space issue. I will look into it

Cheers Rikki. Even if it was just a link, it would make the calender so much more useful as I think people would actually.... well ... use it lol

  6. Just one question on the embedding, and about the only thing I feel is missing from one of them. I see that the "1 users going" on the calender embedded item, but are we not going to have the functionality within that item to actually say whether we are going to that event or not? Simply as I feel the calender entries would become more useful. Users are lazy afterall LOL

  7. How much control will we have there?

e.g. if i want to show a block only in forum 1,2,3? or the newest threads block should show only the last threads from forum X , if i'm viewing a thread in forum X

    will this work?

This is the kind of thing I was thinkin, however would have thought theoretically would just be able to pic up the forumid and suppress on set pages. So long as the code base is there could have quite a bit of potential :)

  8. When you say they are global, just how global? For example, I would love to have them show on the topic listing within the forum, however not sure I would want them showing on a topic page, and if I did decide to show on topic page it may only be on one forum. Is this level of customisation possible or am I over thinking it?

That functionality is in 3.x too, with the profile hover cards... but it's not really a proper solution for Marc_S's issue (which I agree with). We get a lot of reports that are closer to support requests, and the report system is far from a proper ticket. Some way of messaging the reporting user from the report would be quite helpful.

Completely agree, nor is just a notification. I dont want my members to feel we are robots, I wanna be able to respond and quickly even if its simply with a "Cheers for that m8, hadnt picked up on this but being dealt with now"

  10. One of the biggest issues with the report center as it is at present is the inability to actually respond to the person who reported it in the first place, meaning this generally goes ignored and the user can feel his/her report has also been ignored. Is there anything to facilitate this?
