You are using an alternate directory for the AdminCP. Support for this has been removed for v5.

Jim, do I need to replace the name in constants with the default name? Or just eliminate that line altogether?

Completely remove 😉

We would recommend removing the constant and ensuring the admin folder is uploaded. Other than that, no modification is needed.

The constant is in the constants.php file on your server. Once you remove that constant, you can simply rename the admin folder or re-upload from the Client Area.

Two different answers, both vague.  Most of us made the change years and years ago and have no clue where/how to "rename the admin folder" or how to "re-upload from the client area", let alone exactly how to modify a config file (or where to even find it).

This is all cryptic gibberish.

Since IP is forcing this change to non-tech folks, I highly encourage IP to create very explicit, step-by-step instructions for dummies so we don't flood these support forums for help when the change takes effect.

Would recommend using our Cloud and not worrying about making configuration changes if making changes makes you that nervous 🙂 . Self-hosted is really self-managed when it comes to things like this. Making file edits and renaming a folder isn't specific to our software so we assume, if you are self-hosting, you understand these basic changes and how to revert them should something go wrong. A Feedback topic also really isn't the best place for in-depth information, we recommend referring to the guide for any in-depth information and then opening a support topic for any follow up questions regarding the software:

If you have suggestions or feedback on the help guides, we recommend you opening up a new topic to do so. Keep in mind that especially guides that interact with hosting elements, we're not here to guide on the hosting-side but rather just the software.

As mentioned in the post quoted above, renaming folders, editing files, or reuploading files is really outside our scope of instruction.

The aforementioned guide will help you remove the line from your constants.php file. Then as mentioned, rename your customly named folder back to “admin” or reupload all folders/files from the Client Area. Both will result in the same.

Cool. Nice work guys.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by the "client area", or are supposed to know that already because it's posted someplace else that we're supposed to already know?

Asking for a friend.

Client Area is in the header 🙂. It’s where you download and manage your license here on our site.

Why? The instructions to do so, where in the first place provided in the past by Invision. It's not something I would come up with myself. 🙂
Though it's easy to revert.

Instruction to do these items would be more like how to use FTP, SSH, or your hosting panel which is outside our scope. I would recommend reading the guide mentioned for info on constants and where in the software structure they live.
