beats23 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 (edited) My site data has now grown. I have two options. Move to a bigger hosting plan or offload to Amazon S3. If I offload all files, data, and images to Amazon s3. Will it affect my Google Image links? Will links for photos in Google and other search engine still work? Or will my site need to be re-indexed by Google? Is there any negative side effects from doing this? Will all the local data automatically be deleted after moving to Amazon s3? georgebkk Posted April 25 Posted April 25 You need to use a subdomain for S3. If you are using a subdomain now for pics, then it's easy to point to S3 instead. If not, you have to do 301 redirects of all your pics. beats23 1
Marc Posted April 25 Posted April 25 If the files are moved, then those files would no longer be located in the places they were indexed. So items such as google image search, if they were direct links to the images, would indeed be affected. Files are removed from local after a successful move by the system, unless you choose to move items manually and select that you have done so. In that scenario it would be up to yourself to remove the old images beats23 1
Elon Report Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Look into Wasabi. They use AWS but they do not charge for data egress.
Randy Calvert Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I personally had random performance issues with Wasabi and instances where my content would not display. I moved away from it after the 4th incident of it happening. The lower cost could not justify the availability for me. Elon Report 1
