I_cant_Swim_ Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Hello, For new member registrations, our settings require that a full registration form be filled and validation then occurs by email. I have never enabled Admin validation. Why then do I get an admin notification claiming a potential member needs admin validation? This is, btw, the second time this happens. thanks, and a pleasant day to all.
Nathan Explosion Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Probably because your spam prevention settings dictate that a certain level requires admin involvement...
I_cant_Swim_ Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 Hi Nathan Explosion. I don't understand that. If the person has not yet completed registration, he cannot post. So there's nothing to base a spam suspicion on... or would a failed captcha trigger that?
Solution Nathan Explosion Posted February 19 Solution Posted February 19 5 minutes ago, I_cant_Swim_ said: I don't understand that OK. But it's likely to be that has happened All registrations go through the spam prevention settings, and depending on your configuration then an admin may need to validate the account. I_cant_Swim_ 1
I_cant_Swim_ Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 Thank you. I'll take a look at those spam prevention settings.
I_cant_Swim_ Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 For the sake of completion, I looked up the spam prevention settings. Two fields were indeed set to "manual review" 1. 2. So Nathan Explosion was right. Thank you.
Marc Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Glad to see you have what you need. You can read more about the spam prevention items here if needed I_cant_Swim_ 1
I_cant_Swim_ Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 thanks. I had already read that, but still didn't connect the dots between the message "member awaiting admin validation" and spam defense. I would have expected a message more like "member requiring admin validation after triggering spam defense". Still, after trying out stuff I learned that it's possible to find this info anyway. Here are the steps I used: 1. click on the members IP 2. in this case select the spam defense log entry (arrow above). 3. Find the spam response level at left (and compare with spam defense settings as in my post above) .
