Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
sadams101 Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I've been reading articles about Google's plan to eliminate "third-party cookies entirely by mid-2024," and I am wondering how this will affect Invision Community software? Will it function properly without cookies? https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-to-disable-third-party-cookies-for-1-of-chrome-users/498429/ Also, could I be mis-interpreting what they will be doing? Perhaps they won't allow any cookies from other sites (site B) to load when visiting site A? I'm not sure, but it seems like a pretty big change to me.
Solution Jim M Posted February 9, 2024 Solution Posted February 9, 2024 Third party cookies are cookies set by a website other than the website you're viewing. Cookies are an essential part of web applications and aren't going away. sadams101 and G17 Media 2
Randy Calvert Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 This is nothing to worry about. Other browsers such as Safari did this YEARS ago. Google dragged its heels because of what it meant for trackers tracking you across multiple sites. sadams101 1
