Are there any general recommendations for php.ini settings or other server adjustments that would help keep the site running quickly? Thanks! Would strongly recommend working with your hosting provider or server administrator to review what you are having slow downs with. They would be able to review and make adjustments based on what is happening better than some generic answer that could be provide from us or another user here.
