Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Stan Jensen Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 In the past, the spammers registered but because of the magic power of invision they could not post. Now we are getting 100's of posts that have to be deleted. Is there a good way to stop those again?
Solution DSystem Posted April 24, 2023 Solution Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) What worked for me was this App: It costs $8 per year. But worth the investment... Edited April 24, 2023 by DSystem Stan Jensen 1
Marc Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 It is worth mentioning, to make sure you are using all the correct internal features first of all. Please ensure you are using hCaptcha to begin with, which was implemented to assist with this
iProxy Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) In this case it is better to ban the IPs by the HTACCESS (a few days). Then do a search for their host with WHOIS. If it is not Asian or Russian you can contact them by abuse@... by sending a copy of the spam. Edited April 24, 2023 by iProxy Stan Jensen 1
Stan Jensen Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 Thanks. I have used cleantalk elsewhere glad to know it is available here. this is amazing software... and by amazing software. I mean Invision. Cleantalk is amazing as well. Marc 1
nodle Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 I was getting some last week and switched to hCaptcha like @Marc Stridgen mentioned, and not a spammer since.
Arthmoor Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Get IPS to implement this: Akismet is extremely effective and costs nothing to use. It would be a win-win for IPS and everyone who uses it. DSystem 1
