Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Phillyman Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) So I went into WHM on my server and enabled 8.1.... Do I need to change this to match the previous handlers, or leave it on this new setting? Also can I just flip my IPB forum domain to use PHP 8.1? Then go see if anything is broken on my website. If it is, can I just flip it back to 7.4? Edited October 10, 2022 by Phillyman
Randy Calvert Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 That's basically it. Switch and see if it works. If it does NOT work... while you're on PHP 8, run the compatibility checker to see if that version of PHP meets all of the system requirements (if not you would need to work with your host).
Marc Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 If you get any errors, check your PHP error logs also.
marklcfc Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) Not completely related to this but I had the option to just flip it on, and when I check phpinfo through admin cp and the ips4 checker it says PHP 8.1.10. But when I go into phpmyadmin under web server it says this Edited October 10, 2022 by marklcfc

If you’re using a version of phpMyAdmin provided by your admin panel, it’s most likely loading it from its version of PHP.

When accessing the panel, it's going to use whatever is configured by the panel provider for its PHP version. So it could be different than what is reported within your domain configuration.
