Are there any plans to release the passkey feature https://developer.apple.com/passkeys/ anytime in the near future?

This feature will be oficially released this fall with the new apple software and i’m sure in a few months or years it will fully replace passwords.

There are other platforms than Apple, and passkeys will not work (for now) on a PC. I highly doubt IPS will implement a feature that cannot be used by 100% of the community. Maybe they will add an option but it will not in a long time replace passwords is my guess.

Apple just created a bigger marketing splash around it. It’s not an Apple thing, but an alliance between companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Google. They will all have implementations soon.

While I understand you would like to see this, and we may well add at some point, its worth baring in mind this is also apple only. There are other login methods other than passwords I agree, however there are very very very few websites that dont use them.

Google supports this along with Android and iOS on mobile.

Also my password manager use Passkeys:

https://1password.com

Now every site I visit where passkey is enabled, he asks me to change the login from traditional username and password to passkey.

I would never go back.

As it is a security issue, it should be given priority in development.

Sorry Marc, my comment was a little tongue in cheek. 🙂

However, Google also uses Passkey now.

Consdering switching to XenForo for this feature alone. Will v5 have passkey support?

Wow, that’s some serious dedication to passkeys.

Scammers & compromised accounts are rampant. Anything that can make MFA painless is great.

Hello,

Almost any password manager supports passkeys now.

How is the status of implementing this in Invision Power Board??

Its not something in which we have implemented at the present time. Thats not to say we wouldnt do so in the future. At present we are focused on the early releases of version 5
