Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Luciann Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Are there any plans to release the passkey feature https://developer.apple.com/passkeys/ anytime in the near future? This feature will be oficially released this fall with the new apple software and i’m sure in a few months or years it will fully replace passwords. SeNioR- 1
Sirmadsen Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 There are other platforms than Apple, and passkeys will not work (for now) on a PC. I highly doubt IPS will implement a feature that cannot be used by 100% of the community. Maybe they will add an option but it will not in a long time replace passwords is my guess. SeNioR- 1
Management Charles Posted September 23, 2022 Management Posted September 23, 2022 There are platforms other than Apple? Thomjeee, Clover13, WebCMS and 1 other 4
opentype Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 Apple just created a bigger marketing splash around it. It’s not an Apple thing, but an alliance between companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Google. They will all have implementations soon. SeNioR- 1
Chris027 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 I'd love passkey support. For anyone who wants to know a little bit more, here's a fairly good article - https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2022/10/passkeys-microsoft-apple-and-googles-password-killer-are-finally-here/ opentype 1

While I understand you would like to see this, and we may well add at some point, its worth baring in mind this is also apple only. There are other login methods other than passwords I agree, however there are very very very few websites that dont use them.

modman Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Also my password manager use Passkeys: https://1password.com Now every site I visit where passkey is enabled, he asks me to change the login from traditional username and password to passkey. I would never go back. As it is a security issue, it should be given priority in development.

Sorry Marc, my comment was a little tongue in cheek. 🙂 However, Google also uses Passkey now. Marc and SeNioR- 1 1
