Possible to add custom message in Registration?

Is it possible to add custom messages to the Registration process? I'd like to be able to add a message that new users see at the start of the registration process, as well as another custom message included with the e-mail they receive to notify them that the account has been activated? Are either of those an option? Thanks!

Another option would be to take advantage of the ability to create custom language strings - screenshot below uses the above functionality, and 2 custom language strings called 'password_confirm_desc' and 'password_confirm_warning' to add those 2 items below the "Confirm Password" field:
