Do you know if the "libgd" is used by invision and if so is version 2.3.0 compatible?

GD is a part of PHP by default so if there are any issues it would likely be between libgd and PHP itself, rather than IPS4.

The server is in version 2.2.5 and I plan to update it to version 2.3.0, but I don't know if this is compatible with IPS4.

We don't have specific GD library compatibilities generally. What Ryan was explaining is that PHP interfaces with GD, and we interface with PHP, so as long as that version is supported by the PHP version you're using you should be fine.
