Adriano Faria Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) This plugin will display, on Forums index, total users (members and guests) browsing forums. NOTE: This plugin DO NOT count users reading topics in the forums; only users browsing the forums. Edited November 4, 2020 by Adriano Faria
Joy Rex Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I just purchased this, and everywhere it is showing "1 viewing" (on the forums that actually have activity), but when I click on it shows many more users - is there a problem? And yes, this is in Table view - I thought this was similar to VBulletin's "users viewing topic".

Percival Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 @Adriano Faria Thank for the plugin! I've got the same problem as @Joy Rex (it shows only "1 viewing" despite more users). Could you add a possiblity to translate "viewing" in regard to 1 user in other language? I mean an ability to change translation to {%s [1:viewing][?:viewing]} Adriano Faria 1
Adriano Faria Posted November 3, 2020 Author Posted November 3, 2020 I’ll take a look on his board in a couple of hours and will release a fix, if that’s the case. 👍 Percival and Joy Rex 2

Adriano Faria Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 (edited) New version submitted (and waiting approval). It fixes the inconsistency in the total number of users viewing forums (on board index) and adds pluralization to the board index language bit. EDIT: Oh God, forgot to increase the version number. So when it's out, UNINSTALL the version you have and install it again. I will submit it again with right version number next time. Edited November 4, 2020 by Adriano Faria
403 - Forbiddeen Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I like your plugin, but will turn better if count from sub foruns and topics reads, its rare have a member inside foruns. A suggestion, integration with tutorials and downloads.
Adriano Faria Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 (edited) It won’t count users in topics because an additional query per topic ID would be required to get the forum_id where the topic is posted. So 20 users in 20 topics, will result in 20 additional queries when you load your index. I really don’t think you will want to slow down your board considerably. I also don’t believe IPS would approve such poor implementation. Edited November 5, 2020 by Adriano Faria
yurg Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Hi, we've purchased this plugin and we have Forum Table View and all set on Admin CP -> System -> Plugins -> Users Viewing Forums -> Edit (pencil button) but there is no viewing statistics available. Are there any other steps to perform in order to see this working? Thanks.

Adriano Faria Posted November 10, 2020 Author Posted November 10, 2020 Just a closure on this: the user has only one forum, so there isn’t an index, that’s why it doesn’t show.

Mercury5 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Thanks for creating this addon @Adriano Faria Just a quick question before I purchase. Is there a way that this does not show when no viewers are looking in forums? Display "0 Viewing" in forums when no user is browsing it

alexxis Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 The plugin won't count users reading topics, I understand this, but how about users in the subforums? will they be counted on the main page? For example, if the forum called "Test forum" has two subforums inside it - "Second forum" and "Third forum", and there are some users browsing inside them (not inside topics), - will they be counted on the main page, right on the "Test forum"?
Adriano Faria Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) Same user can’t be in two different places at same time so it wouldn’t be an accurate result. Edited February 9, 2021 by Adriano Faria

I wasn't talking about the same user. Imagine: John is visiting the main forum called "A Test forum" like on your picture above. So, he will be counted as "1 viewing". If at the same time, Mark starts to browse in its subforum ""Second forum" , will Mark be counted as the second person viewing the "A test forum" forum?
