Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
McAtze Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Hi, today i had a spammer as a guest who reply to more then 40 topics. After checking the guest permission i see that guests doesn't have any permissions to post or reply in all forums. How could he reply to so many topics? I am a little bit confused.
Miss_B Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 They should not be able to posts if they do not have permissions to do so. What plugins do you have installed btw?Â

You probablly has POST BEFORE REGISTERING enabled then guests has MEMBERS permission and will be prompted to create an account. BUT if the posts is authored by GUESTS yet, then that's not the case as the posts would be visible only after the account is created. McAtze and Miss_B 1 1

Yes, this was the problem. So the replies was hidden for all and waiting for approving?

You don't see, even as admin/moderator, the content posted by guests via POST BEFORE REGISTERING. They only get visible after the account is created. I mean, you can view with the following plugin: https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/9296-post-before-registering-content-viewer/ Â
McAtze Posted May 18, 2020 Author Posted May 18, 2020 But i saw every reply as admin and deleted it. The poster was a guest and has no member account.
Adriano Faria Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Then it wasn't the POST BEFORE REGISTERING feature. Make sure you don't allow guests in any forums and check your 3rd-party resources. I would submit a ticket to IPS after that. McAtze 1
McAtze Posted May 18, 2020 Author Posted May 18, 2020 I will keep an eye on it. This was the first time ever. I have checked every permission i found. Guest have just read permissions. But i also had the "POST BEFORE REGISTERING" feature enabled. I will take a look if the Phenomenon came back. Thanks for your help. 🤓
Morrigan Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 You could open a private window and see if you can post as a guest. Normally it’s permissions but it could have also been that one of your mods flagged them as a spammer or deleted their account without deleting their content. Adriano Faria and McAtze 2
