Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Fast Lane! Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 After upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4, I'm getting the following on all the pages for a topic (next page links, etc.). Why is there a "#comments".... I think it should not be there. Help? @bfarber... https://www.domain.com/forums/topic/2-post-bugs-here/page/4/#comments
opentype Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Considering that this behavior is seen on this site as well (or any 4.4 site), I assume it is intentional. What’s your problem with it? Why does the title say “not working”. What is not working?
bfarber Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Yes, please clarify what "is not working" exactly. Adding an anchor to a URL does not make it non-functional.
Fast Lane! Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 I think it's the #comment which I'm concerned creates a duplicative url to split SEO. A canonical could fix it (maybe) but it wasn't clear why it's even on the urls to begin with. It creates a sloppy url when people copy/share the link.
bfarber Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 It's called an anchor, and should be ignored by search engines. That said, a canonical tag is output to the page anyways.
