Posted May 20, 20196 yr After upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4, I'm getting the following on all the pages for a topic (next page links, etc.). Why is there a "#comments".... I think it should not be there. Help? @bfarber... https://www.domain.com/forums/topic/2-post-bugs-here/page/4/#comments Edited May 20, 20196 yr by Fast Lane!
June 3, 20196 yr Community Expert Considering that this behavior is seen on this site as well (or any 4.4 site), I assume it is intentional. What’s your problem with it? Why does the title say “not working”. What is not working?
June 3, 20196 yr Yes, please clarify what "is not working" exactly. Adding an anchor to a URL does not make it non-functional.
June 3, 20196 yr Author I think it's the #comment which I'm concerned creates a duplicative url to split SEO. A canonical could fix it (maybe) but it wasn't clear why it's even on the urls to begin with. It creates a sloppy url when people copy/share the link. Edited June 3, 20196 yr by Fast Lane!
June 4, 20196 yr It's called an anchor, and should be ignored by search engines. That said, a canonical tag is output to the page anyways.
