kammeret.no Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I'm trying to set up a sales department, and it seems like departments can only include member from the admin group, and our sales guy is not. Cant you just pick people you want to include in a department as you like?

Support is handled through the ACP (admin control panel) and only admins can access it. So yes, the sales guy needs to be an admin or he wouldn’t be able to do anything as department member.
kammeret.no Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 He's not supposed to do anything, our forum is heavily financed by banner ads, and he is only supposed to answer questions from potential advertisers. When an advertising deal is finalized he would escalate the ticked to the admin department for instance, who actually have admin priveliges and the technical skills needed to implement the banner ads. I can tell you I DO NOT want to give our sales guy admin priveliges, as he's not an IT guy and would probably screw something up.

Then give him the privileges he needs, and not the full admin privileges. You've got total control over what the user can access in the ACP - restrict it down to what he needs.
opentype Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 “Admin” is just a group. It doesn’t say anything about WHAT an admin can do. You would make him an admin and remove all functions but the support stuff.
kammeret.no Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 ok, but in the admin group i have my admins (technical staff), that need full admin access to everything, so I dont want to change any of the priveliges for that group. I can add him to that group and remove unwanted priveliges from his user individually?
kammeret.no Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 Obviously I have missed something about priveliges in ips 4 but ok, I can make a "sales" group, and give that access to the support functions, if I understand you correct.
kammeret.no Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 I found it....I wasnt aware you could add a group to "administrators and set individual administrator permissions there....problem solved....Thanks!
