Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Sheffielder Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Is there such a thing as a standard htaccess file? I think I might have messed mine up I need a standard one but one that includes friendly URL rewriting
AndyF Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 You can easily get a 'fresh' one from the ACP. Go to ACP > System > Site Promotion > Search Engine Optimisation > Friendly URL's Click the link shown in the text on that page to download it. Typically there's two variations of this file, depending if the community is in a subdirectory or not, so its easier / quicker to just grab a fresh one from your ACP in most cases.
Sheffielder Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 When I upload the fresh one I get a white screen and loss of site
AndyF Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 That's typically due to an error in it or a server configuration issue. If you have access to the error logs, check to see the latest ones (you may be able to see them in Cpanel if you have this) One quick thing to check, download the file you uploaded if you do not have a local copy and carefully look at it in a suitable editor (not Windows 'Notepad' ) for anything amiss such as leading spaces on lines or suchlike. You could always download a fresh one from your ACP and then open them both and compare them too.
Sheffielder Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 I literally just downloaded from the ACP and uploaded straight to server and it whited out on me Had to put the old one back on until I can suss out what's going on So confusing...
sweethoney Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 log into your web host and see if you have 2 htaccess inside your publichome if so try to delete one of them..than redo.. if that dont work check and see if you have modz enabled turn to off
Sheffielder Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Below is my current HTAccess file Can anyone spot anything wrong with this one? (this is the working one) I really want to strip it all out and just go back to basic htaccess provided by the forum software but it just blank screens me when I swap that one for the one below RewriteOptions inherit RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^atSpider/1.0 [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^autoemailspider [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^BlackWidow [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Bot\ mailto:craftbot@yahoo.com [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^CherryPicker [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^ChinaClaw [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Crescent [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Custo [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^DIIbot [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^DISCo [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Download\ Demon [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^eCatch [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^EirGrabber [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^EmailCollector [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^EmailSiphon [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^EmailWolf [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Express\ WebPictures [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^ExtractorPro [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^EyeNetIE [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^FlashGet [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^GetRight [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^GetWeb! MADMAN32395 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 @Sheffielder what happens if you rename that htaccess file (that way the server doesnt use it), and you try to visit ACP? does it still 'blank out'? or is it just the front end that blanks out? if you can get into acp, clear your suite's cache and see if that helps.
Sheffielder Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@xxxxxxxxx.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Adlago Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Try adding only that Options -MultiViews RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /forums/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule \.(js|css|jpeg|jpg|gif|png|ico|map)(\?|$) /forums/404error.php [L,NC] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /forums/index.php [L] You have already RewriteOptions inherit - I think that there "clash" with 'mod_rewrite.c'
Sheffielder Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Shall I just add a fresh .htaccess file with just that in?
Adlago Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Remove in your htaccess <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> and </IfModule>
