Hi All,

I want to make few changes to the theme.

Is it a good idea to create a child theme to the Default theme and then do all custom changes in the child theme ?

Any documentation available regarding this ?

should ALWAYS use a new theme (create copy of default) and make changes to that (make sure you set the copy theme as the theme to be used on forum)

Reason for this is in case you do something wrong and everything goes wrong you then still have the default theme for members to still be able to view forum etc while you work out what went wrong with your 'copy' theme

and as TAMAN stated use custom.css for any style changes as will not get overwritten when upgrading

Thank You so much. Thats the idea.

But my doubt is whether to create the new theme as child theme of default ?

Child theme has any advantage (or) just creating a copy theme is enough ?

Personally ... create copy of default theme (not child) ... make child themes from the copy if you want but not the main default theme

As stated .. that is my personal preference

I inherently want to use a child theme as well coming from vBulletin but I dont know how well the changes roll downstream.
