Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Ibragim Pupkevich Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Hi guys, I'm about to upgrade my board from 3.4 finally to 4.x. I decided to re-build my theme "from zero". But I tried with 4.1 beta builds - seems it's still working unstable with 4.0 custom applications, which are essential for me. If I will decided to go with 4.0 now and build new Theme for 4.0 - this theme will be easy to upgrade to 4.1 in future? Or I will have to re-build it once again almost from zero when I will upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1? Please! I have no more time to chill, need to take decision now... Thanks!
ehren. Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 There are pretty substantial code changes required between 4.0 and 4.1. You can use the "IPS4 Resources > Theme Differences" tool to check them out. :)
Teascu Dorin Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Hello, There are some templates that need to be changed/adjusted when upgrading from 4.0 to 4.1, mostly for the navbar changing. The theme, if selected, will not work and will show an error on the frontend when used without correction.
Tracy Perry Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 From what I have read, it will have to be upgraded/modified once you go to 4.1 if it is much more than simple CSS edits (if it involves template changes).
