Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
kar3n2 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 HiI have several types of member groups on my site and I was wondering how to find the link URL for each type of group, that will then show a list of the members in that group. Thanks
chilihead Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Search >> Members >> Group Ex: IPS Staffhttps://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[5]=1
kar3n2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Search >> Members >> Group Ex: IPS Staffhttps://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[5]=1 is the group id in order of the way groups are listed in acp? [5] not 100% clear on this this seems to be a very untidy URL and Ive tried to change the number 5 or the number 1 but just a list of members no matter what. ???
chilihead Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Just go to search page choose Members then Group and hit Search. There's your link.
kar3n2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Just go to search page choose Members then Group and hit Search. There's your link.so sorry but that gave me no results , i thought perhaps it was because i had changed group names ... but still no results. At the end of the day we will only have a search url which is a very untidy link anyway. Is there a direct link to a member group id? It isn't even possible to click on the group name that is under a members name. I would like a very clean URL like we have for the staff http://www.outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum/staff/ for each group if possible
broni Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 If you want you can install "Group Legend" plugin: https://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/7310-bd4-group-legend/It'll give you clickable links to each group.
chilihead Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 It works here on IPS. Here is the Members group. Just go to the search page click Members and the Group you want or alter the URL yourself. https://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[43]=1
kar3n2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 It works here on IPS. Here is the Members group. Just go to the search page click Members and the Group you want or alter the URL yourself. https://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[43]=1 this type of search doesntt work on my site... try it I have group business, welcomer, there is nothing comes up in the member search http://outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum
kar3n2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 staff has a lovely clean URL as we can see http://www.outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum/staff/ so i would like that kind of URL to link to each group too if possible
Adlago Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Create New FURLhttp://www.outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum/business/add address-> app=core&module=search&controller=search&type=core_members&group[7]=&and similarly for other groups. Here is an example my group:http://nophelet.com/ipssupport/
Jim M Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 staff has a lovely clean URL as we can see http://www.outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum/staff/ so i would like that kind of URL to link to each group too if possibleUnfortunately, that is only available for staff with the innate software but would make a great 3rd party application.
kar3n2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Unfortunately, that is only available for staff with the innate software but would make a great 3rd party application.yeah it looks like that's what is needed for sure.. ive mailed my help guy see if he can make me one thanks @Jim M
chilihead Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 this type of search doesntt work on my site... try it I have group business, welcomer, there is nothing comes up in the member search http://outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum I'd file that as a bug or report, that should work. You are right it does not on your site. Try it here, it works.PS. Your link is malformed when you click. Missing the /. A bug too, or human error?
chilihead Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 1 listed but says: MembersFound 0 results <---Another bug there. But yes it is working on her site. Here's another:http://www.outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum/search/?type=core_members&group[__EMPTY]=__EMPTY&group[3]=1
Adlago Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Not a bugPP.When searching at the Members and not introduce symbol or several symbols logical result is zero.
kar3n2 Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 I found somebody who is going to make me some plugin ( or whatever) so that i can link to my groups cleanly... I'm sure he will soon let me know if there is some strange bug in there ( hopefully) thanks guys
chilihead Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Not a bugPP.When searching at the Members and not introduce symbol or several symbols logical result is zero.Nope, it still shows results numbers. Why her site does not I don't know. Maybe she's on an older version.https://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[43]=1MembersFound 4,856 results
Adlago Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Maybe she's on an older version. In her site no group named Members. And no match. There is such a group Members.
chilihead Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 That's not the group it says Members at the top because you did a member search. Says it any group you search. The group name is in the results. You can see at the link when you search her site there are results but always says zero. Guessing she needs to upgrade.
Adlago Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 https://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[43]=1MembersFound 4,856 results Here you search only group named Members. If you are looking to quickly search Both results are useless. The idea of search is to find the user with a name, not a list of so many members...
chilihead Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 It always says Members at the top. That is not the group name. On her site some have results but say 0 results. That's all This is group Basic Member on her site. See what is checked in left pane and listed in results in red: http://www.outdoormuckers.co.uk/forum/search/?type=core_members&group[__EMPTY]=__EMPTY&group[3]=1 Has 2 results, says 0. Point being she needs to upgrade, or if latest, file ticket.
Adlago Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I did not search Members I searched Staff. It ALWAYS says Members at the top. This is the Staff result: https://community.invisionpower.com/search/?type=core_members&group[43]=1 Group 43 which is in your link is named Members It is Staff
chilihead Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I edited before you quoted. You are confused by the word Members at top even in your screenshot. I've explained best I can. She has a bug, Period.
