-FP Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Yes, so when people comments in the promoted article, a post is also added to the promoted topic.

-FP Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I haven't purchased the plugin yet, so what I'm asking is: 1: You promote a topic to an article. 2: Then you comment in the article. Will that comment be also displayed in the topic?
Adriano Faria Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Just now, -FP said: Will that comment be also displayed in the topic? Is there a setting for this on IP.Content 2.3.X ? I thought it would be Allow promoter to associate article but it doesn't post the comment as a topic reply.
-FP Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Well yes, that setting is in the database settings in 4.x, in the Forums tab, it can also be overridden per database category. In 3.x, if you had that enabled and promoted a topic, it would do what I'm asking.

Adriano Faria Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 37 minutes ago, -FP said: Yep, it can also be overridden per each database category. I just tried it and it doesn't seem to be possible. To this option takes place, I need to enable the Post topic first. Doing this, when you create the new article based on a post, it will create a new topic and update the database column record_topicid with the new topic ID, and not with the original one. See: Then you enable POST TOPIC to other options appears: Doing that, you already got a new topic when you promote a post to article.
-FP Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 So we'd have to find a way to tell the article that you create from a topic with your plugin, that it's being promoted, so instead of creating another topic after saving the promoted article, you simply add the record_topicid to the article. That would require to modify some php files of the suite, not just some template stuff right?
Adriano Faria Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Put in words it's beautifully simple. Some things can't be hooked because they're 'called' in the middle of a function and not in something hookable. Will give this some thought. But if you're wanting to purchase it, don't do it. I do not guarantee it will work.
chilihead Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Food for thought: Since the stream now shows all content, and not just topics or articles, the duplicate topic is not needed imo. Personally I will be storing all article comments in articles from 4.1 forward. This will give more activity to the article section whereas before, I also duplicated to forum because the VNC defaulted to topics. Just in case this helps make your decision, the app as-is may suit your needs in just promoting the single post to an article. The old way you'll see 2 entries in the stream. Does this have the choice of copy or move, like in 3.4?Copy Post Move Post Do not leave a link to the article Can we select the database? (This was missing in 3.4)
Adriano Faria Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Please, take a look on screenshots! All features it's there.
chilihead Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 It looks like the database you promote to is set in admin only. For my use I would need this to be selectable when you promote, or else I'd have to change it in admin every time. Is that possible?

chilihead Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Oh. I would need that on the front end even if just for admins, I'll be moving posts to different databases.
Adriano Faria Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Not possible. If you change the DB, then you want me to list the categories for the right DB on the + Create popup and it doesn't accept ajax there.
chilihead Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I see. I suppose I could change it in admin every time, I wouldn't need to promote much anyway.

This is done and working. I will do another edit then I'll update the file today later or tomorrow in the morning. Price goes to $10.
chilihead Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 What if it was a per-forum setting? Like: Car Talk -> promotes to Car db. etc.
Adriano Faria Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Just now, chilihead said: What is if was a per-forum setting? chilihead Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Sounds good to me, I think many would appreciate that function as they have thematic forums and dbs.

-FP Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Question. The feature you added @Adriano Faria to use the forums for comments and link the stuff, it's only going to happen if you have that setting enabled in the category right? Because for some categories I don't use that.
