Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
GreenLinks Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Hello , Right now in order to download any IPB package , we are required to follow many clicks. We also can't directly download files via wget to our servers. Is there any way that you can implement allowing wget usage so that we can fasten downloading IPB packages ?
Stuart Elliott Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Presumably, the problem with enabling WGET would allow people WITHOUT subscriptions to also get the files ?
GreenLinks Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Not necessary , they can easily implement methods that can prevent unauthorised access.
GreenLinks Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 I think you'd be the only person to use it ;) There is a possibility , but i really don't want to believe that :)
Marcher Technologies Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013  32 clicks to download my suite or a simple wget with credentials passed .... uh... yeah, Sign me up. Um, no, I have 0 use for automated installer/upgrader, I prefer to do it myself and always have.
MisterPhilip Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I'd prefer git / svn access over a static download..... buuuuuut I already know the answer to that ;)But I would like to see fewer clicks to get the downloads.
Martin A. Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 You can already do that. EDIT: On a sort of unrelated note; Why show the first "list" of categories when there's only one? "IP.Board and <somethingsomething>". Just go straight to the list of files.

I tried both on my mac and 2 different test server and in no case secure_hash can be found within the downloaded file. Though thanks for supplying the link.
Nimdock Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Mmmm, not the only person... I would like wget as well.

You'll get it if you attempt to reach an error page. Looks like they override the IPB wrapper on the homepage now, and /clients/ isn't returning anything, but skipping straight to the download link does. curl "http://www.invisionpower.com/clients/index.php?app=downloads&module=display§ion=download&do=do_download&id=22"

File 'ID' is correct, direct url works, just won't spit the whole thing into the zip.
