so sorry for the newbie question, but I can not find out how to do this

Is it possible to setup different skins for different groups ex: other for guests and other for members?

admincp >> look & feel tab >> far right of skin name click the drop down menu >> edit settings

then select which group have access to this skin (e.g. guests)

Do same for all skins

Make sure there is no 'tick' in the 'Select ALL current and future groups of'
