Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Here's the documentation that explains how to view these logs, if it's not clear as to what is causing the error based on what it says in your logs, post the error here. http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/documentation/index.html/_/knowledge-base/recurring-non-version-specific-issues/database-driver-errors-r326
MJJUtopia Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 okay that worked I got it now all I need is to set mods for it...can you help me with that?
Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 It should explain in the message that tells you that you have no moderators where to go to add them:No moderators have been added, to add one go to the Admin CP -> Other Apps -> Shoutbox -> Management -> Manage Moderators page!
MJJUtopia Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I can't find that I am running IP.Board 3.3.1 so the shoutbox is not in the list other than the modules
Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 In your Admin CP, near the top, you should see a button labeled Other Apps. Hovering over that should open a dropdown menu that contains the Shoutbox menu:
MJJUtopia Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 well it is not showing up because the support told me that they don't support shoutbox and it won't show up in the list
Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 If it's not showing up in the Other Apps menu, then you have not properly installed the app. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it again.
Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 It would really benefit you to go through the documentation section here on this site and familiarize yourself with the IP.Board software a bit more. Here is the documentation on the Manage Applications & Modules page that explains how to uninstall applications: http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/documentation/index.html/_/documentation/administrator-control-panel/system-tab/applications-modules-manage-applications-modules-r228
MJJUtopia Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 okay to re-install do I choose Skip - Don't create those tables or Drop origional tables & overwrite?
MJJUtopia Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 okay I took it out and reinstalled it and it still does not show in the other apps menu
Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 The only other thing I can suggest is to have you PM me FTP and Admin CP details and let me look at what's going on. I'm not sure which part of the installation you're doing improperly without being able to see this first-hand.
MJJUtopia Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I did PM you the log in details it should be in your mail
Michael Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 The reason you don't have any Admin CP options for the Shoutbox is because you've set up Admin CP restrictions specific to each admin, and in doing so it doesn't automatically add in the Shoutbox as being accessible when you installed the app. So you need to go through the Admin CP restrictions and grant each admin access to the Shoutbox if you want them to be able to use/see it there.
Ryan11433 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I don't know how to say this but I will try to explain - Allow Shoutbox Popup? is marked yes in shoutbox settings through ACP but I still do not see it at http://forums.hiphopselite.com and to shout does not work at the forum index but it only does on shoutbox page. Of course you need to be logged in to see the shoutbox.Allow Shoutbox Popup? is working on my other board such like at http://forums.hiphopselite.com/beta and few other boards but those does not require you to be logged in to see the shoutbox because It is how I have it setup.
Ryan11433 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I don't get it.. they are applied and the shoutbox page are working fine and I am just now doing the steps again.
Ryan11433 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Ok I did the steps again... same thing what if it is a bug still? Of course I did try again with these 3 file and did all the steps also theres nothing to revert (I did do double check) I'll just sit here and let it fix itself like it did on another boards that I own or hopefully you would find the bug to fix as I do keep shoutbox up to date. Yes Can view the shoutbox? is on now for guest users on http://forums.hiphopselite.com.
Michael Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 It's not a bug. The steps I listed there will fix it if done properly. Of the few times when someone said they did those steps and it didn't work, and then I looked at their site for them, it wasn't working for them because they in fact had not done those steps correctly.
Ryan11433 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 It's not a bug. The steps I listed there will fix it if done properly. Of the few times when someone said they did those steps and it didn't work, and then I looked at their site for them, it wasn't working for them because they in fact had not done those steps correctly. hmm I'm missing something? I did do all those steps except reverting because there is nothing to revert is there another workaround with this?
Michael Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 No, those are the steps, there's no other workaround. Any issues with things not showing up like they should or not functioning like they should are caused by missing files or out of date skin templates. Following those steps I outlined will ensure that those potential problems are resolved.
Ryan11433 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 can you tell by viewing my site? the address is provided.
Michael Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Yes, I can tell that you have not done the steps listed in my post, because I see this line in your page source:<script type='text/javascript' src='http://forums.hiphopselite.com/public/js/shoutbox.js?load=ajax'></script> There is not any 'load=ajax' part of that javascript file anymore, if you have that showing up in your page source it means you have outdated skin templates. I don't know how much clearer I can state this: the steps I listed in that post I linked you to, when done exactly as stated, will fix that.
