Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
ikillbill Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Hi will it be a good idea to have a function to turn topic or post into PDF with embeded water mark?
bfarber Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 You need special third party scripts or PHP extensions to manipulate PDF files.
broni Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Firefox has a nice add-on, pdfit: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7528/
Axel Wers Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I like it. You need special third party scripts or PHP extensions to manipulate PDF files. In my opinion possibility to save .pdf could be better solution than .doc
bfarber Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I agree, Axel, however as I said, it requires a special PDF extension in PHP (which most people don't have), or special third party scripts to generate a PDF at the script level. Thus, it's not realistic to include support at this time out of the box (though I'd think a modification could do it relatively easily).
ᴡᴅツ Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I posed same question here: How does joomla do it? http://demo.joomla.org/1.5/ This is a custom generated PDF http://demo.joomla.org/1.5/index.php?view=article&catid=1:latest-news&id=6:we-are-volunteers&format=pdf
ᴡᴅツ Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Perhaps a way to disable images in pdf conversion would be ideal.
Amy T Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I do like the idea even though I see pdf it self as a outdated file formate.
