Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Fotis Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 There is an option in the admin panel where i can make the groups that I want to watch all the forum, with out them having to subscribe. 1.How can i have the same setting but for every post? Is there such a plugin? 2. How can I make this option 'Allow emails from the administrators' to be permanent, and hidden from the members options? Thanks for any help
Wolfie Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 You need to ask these questions in the Peer to Peer support forum, this is a feedback forum.
bfarber Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Neither is possible. I couldn't foresee us including a "watch every post" option to be honest. An extremely small site, this could be useful, but once you have 10 posts a day and 1000 members (which usually doesn't take very long) you're talking 10,000 emails a day just for the posts (not including new topics, registrations, etc.). These are also the sites on small shared hosting, which isn't going to be too happy with you sending out so many emails. It isn't feasible for 99% of our customers to have such an option. #2 we'd never include simply because it's immoral. You must give your users an option NOT to receive email from your site, else your site would eventually be blacklisted as a spam source (which also means email problems for everyone else on your shared server).
Luke Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Not that I agree that such a feature should be added,... just wanted to point out: Mailing groups :D
MarkD FTR Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 There is an option in the admin panel where i can make the groups that I want to watch all the forum, with out them having to subscribe. im just wondering how to do this, there is a group i well the boss wants to make watch every forum oops just realsied this post is in the wrong forum, sorry i just foudn this on a search
Luke Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 What about mailing groups? I'm a bit late in replying to this but... Mailing groups rely on email messages. Thousands of emails get sent from a mailing group. The suggestion was basically a way to turn a forum into a mailing group. Not that I think this should be done :).
TestingSomething Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 10 posts a day my sites have become so pathetic that if I got 10 posts per day not from myself I would go into shock from that high number.
