ikillbill Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 just try it and surprised that it is not using ajax? discussed before ?
joschienne Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I think it's good that it isn't using ajax, that there is a little time-pain to update your status. Otherwise folks would use it as a shoutbox!
Kfir Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I just realized that too, and somehow I remembered it was AJAX, wasn't it?
ikillbill Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 well, what is wrong if it beocmoes shoutbox?
Zepher Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Could be a shoutbox 'feature'... be nice to have a scroll bar to see more updates
ikillbill Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 any words from officials? not really attractive for members if one line of text reload whole page..
Josh Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I don't really think the refresh is a big deal, but we may ajax it at some point, I don't really know right now. The best I can tell you right now is that we will consider it :)
Ryan H. Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Something other people have already touched on, but I think you guys have unintentionally created a built-in shoutbox with this.
Antonin Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 The problem is really the refresh... But it's look like Facebook and it's appreciated by french poeple ! it's a good way to go !

ikillbill Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 just curious IPB use manay ajax around, but why make this NOT ajax? do you try to "avoid" from letting it conflict with shoutbox? fresh is of course a big deal, otherwise why IPB use ajax so much XD?
Michael Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 [quote name='ikillbill' date='16 July 2009 - 09:44 PM' timestamp='1247795055' post='1827549'] just curious IPB use manay ajax around, but why make this NOT ajax? do you try to "avoid" from letting it conflict with shoutbox? fresh is of course a big deal, otherwise why IPB use ajax so much XD? It's not like they went out of their way to have it not use ajax, I just think they didn't forsee that folks would want to have it work like a Shoutbox (since that's not what it's intended to be).
bfarber Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Not every form submission needs to use ajax in my opinion. I'm fine with a good ol "submit to server, refresh page" form submission now and then...

Y0Y0 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I'm not really sure what it is any more, it does look like people are using it as a "shoutbox" whether that was the intention or not. PS i'm all for ajax myself :P

Josh Davidson Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Just saying for you guys, these guys created a Multi Account Twitter Tweeter in four days, which to me basically shows that Twitter can't be hard to do with the right stuff and right knowledge. It shouldn't be that hard for the experts to try to integrate IPB and Twitter together.
