dieselpowered
I think it would be nice to have some default pre-determined banner locations put into the templates for users who are not all that code savvy. Also, one thing that I would also like to see is integrated adsense in the software that would allow you to choose different options of displaying adsense without going into the templates and making all sorts of changes. What do you think?
Jυra
You don't need to be code savvy to copy paste something between two areas. =p There's all sorts of ad services out there, so I would think IPS would want something that isn't exclusive to one. dieselpowered
Maybe you are missing what I am saying. I am not asking for a banner rotater or anything like that...I just think it would be a good addition. vBulletin has this integrated and I just think it would be a great addition to this awesome 3.0 release. Wolfie
I think it'd be helpful if there were predetermined banner ad spots, designed so that if there isn't anything there then nothing is displayed, but if there is something, then it displays it. Then just need to have a few different templates to cover the different views (main board view, category view, forum view, topic view). Something like in the main board view, could have a spot at the top for a horizontal banner and then a space on the right for a vertical banner along with the empty sections (bits?) where the code could be placed that would then be placed in the main skin. That way someone without skinning knowledge could just fill in a few spots and have advertising available. Would definitely help if something were done to make it easier to put ads in the topic view (like after the first post as some sites have). In the end though, probably be easiest to just use an add on application to add an advertising system.
3DKiwi
dieselpowered - Version 3 would be feature locked by now. I suggest learning how to add stuff in. I've gone from knowing absolutely nothing to being able to edit skins and customize my board. It's not really that hard. I use a banner ad rotation management system. Just a matter of pasting in one line of code in the member bar area. Banner ads show up on every page. 3DKiwi
Jυra
If you want to know where to place something like Adsense, you can make a quick thread in the support forum. That way you get it exactly where you want it.
