Rep system suggestion

It would be nice if the rep system had an option in the forum settings that can make it to where you can turn off the rep system on a per forum basis.

By that I mean like if you set it to No you can't rep people in that forum. It would be useful for forums that are there more for function then for use. Like rules forums and Test forums and Silly games forums.

For now I'm going to attempt logic in skinning them out but it would be nice if it were a setting you could turn on or off.

I'm throwing my ideas in too then.

  • Search by REP/Organize on Members tab based on REP
  • Auto Promote/Auto Demote group based on REP level
  • Disable REP in some forums (EX News Forum)
  • maybe... a certain REP level to change your sig?

I had more, forgot them over time.

I like the idea of promotion/demotion based on rep... makes it easyer to give serious members advantages, and will accurage members to get better posts...
As for disabling rep in some forums, i belive this was the idea in the first post :)

Would really like to se functions that are post based changed so you also can use rep for the same issue.

I was actually thinking about that a few weeks ago :D , where each forum had an option to enable / disable reputation. Forums (random example) that have sales / feedback may or may not want the reputation system in these areas but want it elsewhere etc.

The only issue I can possibly see is if its disabled via a skin edit, its (probably, I have not tested) circumvented by crafting the URL manually.

But definitely a +1 for this additional option for a release of 3.0 further down the road (3.1 maybe ?) The reputation system is brand new so I'd expect things will be added / changed / improved with each version anyway :)

Same, I just thought I'd put the idea out there.

I also know the innate problem with it about the URL thing but I am pretty confident (at least on my forum) not many, if any at all, are quite willing to try and figure it out and do it.
