Some suggestions for IPB 3

I'd like to see a double-click the post icon and double click the thread title table to edit them feature, also a force post icons option for each individual forum, and possibly being able to only allow certain post icons in different forums.

Also, I'd like to see the click to lock a thread feature made so it requires a double-click, my hand's slipped before and accidently locked threads. :lol:

Same for the mark forum as read click on the forum status icon. <_<

I'd also like to see.

  • A user selectable postbit feature, each user can select between vertical and horizontal.
  • More customizable options, including globally removing the postcount feature (Often abused as a way of showing off, I've seen it disabled on forums before for just that reason.)
  • Joinable usergroups that can be set to need group leader approval or are free to join.
  • Reports and information about account suspensions and warnings are automatically created in the admin's forum(s) of choice.
  • An option to use the old style members list, the box style doesn't appeal to me that much, and ability to decide the info shown on the list.
  • An option to use name formatting on posts (and possibly the members list) like the original IPB, and a seperate setting to enable/disable use of the colored "Group" field.
  • Thread tagging. :lol:
  • Ability for the admin to fully customize the profile layout for their forum.
  • Avatar limits tied to usergroup rather than global, so site supporters can have larger avatars as a bonus.
  • Custom titles tied to usergroup rather than postcount, same reason as the above.
  • Moderating Team page replaced by special groups, with usergroup permissions or an ACP setup option to control who's listed, also ability to have username formatting show on the list, and reorder the groups on it.

I second the post icon one (as I suggested in another thread myself) but I like the current functionality of the single click to lock and unlock threads and also for the mark forum as read.

I just did a skin edit for that in topic view, I'm sure the same can be done for profiles.

I greatly support this. There was a mod a while ago, not sure if it's been updated.

I've seen that on vB...again it's another feature rarely ever used.

What is a postbit feature?



It's a feature that vBulletin currently have.

Here's the vBulletin description for it (taken from AdminCP):

The postbit controls the way each individual post looks when viewing a thread. The new postbit aligns the poster's information above the post' date=' while the legacy postbit aligns their information to the left of the post.[/quote']

I know a lot of people who don't like it on top. It looks awful with tall avatars.



Can't that be a skin edit?



If they will introduce that, you will be able to switch between postbit and postbit legacy, if you don't like legacy you will not use it on your board. :)

Yeah, done this lots, too, and I haven't been the only one... Soooo many posts in the mod forum on a site I used to admin that were 'Why was <insert thread here> locked?'. :lol:

Quoted because I'd like to put my plea for those suggestions as well... Great suggestions, in my opinion...

I, too, removed the post count in topic view except for admins and mods of that particular forum... it was used way too much as 'Well, I've got more posts than you so I'm better',... and it was usually the 'troublemakers' that pulled that crap.

And I've seen a user customizable profile done before, a 'drag the box' kind of thing... don't remember what forums it was on, though, but I love it! Would love to see something like there with IPB.
