I think this would be good, also it wouldn't hurt to have a few more things selectable, like who can view comments and rating and so on.

I agree with both of these ideas.

We should also have the option to turn the whole stupid friends thing off without having to wipe it off every skin.

This goes for the comments and ratings too, without having to revert to classic view.

We need in general a whole lot more permissions control in the new profiles. Also turning features off in the ACP would be good. I personally do not find any use for friends, and no one else on my forum seems to.

Yes I totally agree, it would be nice. And keep the clutter and stuff away.
