Sinistra Sensei
The abillity to merge members would come in handy if you have members with multible accounts but want all theri post on the same account. or want their login name changed to mach their uername
Antony
This would be quite a complex feature to add, though doubtless it'd be very useful. I think this should be released as a modification/tool rather than as a feature in the base board.

What legitimate reason would there be for doing it?

I think this should be released as a modification/tool rather than as a feature in the base board.vBulletin has done it so certainly IPS can manage it, right?I don't think it would be hard. When you merge usernames have a form that asks"Which username would you like to use?" (Have a drop down box that contains all the users you have selected)"Which email address would you like to use?" (Have a drop down box that contains all the emails addresses from the users you have selected)"Which usergroup would uou like to place the user in?" (Have a drop down box that contains all the usergroups that the users you have selected is in). Then add all the posts, and whatever else.
Brandon C
IPS should definitely incorporate this feature into IPB.
Scorpy
Already there is a mod out for merging members for 2.1.x boards by ntd1712 at ize...may be he can upgrade the same for 2.2 also when the Rc version is released...
Sinistra Sensei
Merging members and boards are 2 different things . Merging members on the SAME board is what I am refering to. Say like I have Sinistra 1 and Sinistra 2 on the same board. One has like 500 posts the other one has almost 800 When you merge the 2 together you combine their posts into one account. so instead of having 800 for one and 500 for the other you have a post count of 1300 Posts and the posts merged show up in that member's profile

Luke
There's a big problem with having a merge member feature built in. What about blogs and gallery (especially blog)? A member cannot have two blogs, yet what if both members had a blog? Or what about other custom components? If a custom component had reference to that member id and both members were merged, that leaves information in those tables that are no null. The only way I see this happening is if there was a file where you could add custom functions to occur when a member was merged (of some sort). That way if you had the gallery installed it would merge gallery information... although blog is still a problem.
Mark
^ Upon next log-in:"Your account has been merged with x. Both accounts have a blog registered, would you like to: [ ] Use your current blog and erase the blogs of the accounts you have been merged with [ ] Combine the blogs, and make all of their blog entries yours [ ] Use their current blog and erase your blog [ ] Erase both blogs"
Mat Barrie
That helps? That's a modded board. I don't believe that's a default feature. (Take a look, "Member Snoop" does not exist in 2.2 Retail Beta). Although I certainly am curious how he modded an encoded script.
Alex Duggan
The screenshot posted isn't of a IPB 2.2 ACP - it's a 2.1 ACP that has been edited to appear like 2.2.

Seeing as the translucency isnt working in that screen shot, it isnt 2.2.

Sinistra Sensei
That helps? Nicer try lol I knew it wasn'tin the admin CP of 2.2 nor 2.1 better try harder then that if you are going to fool anyone. I think there is a Vbulletin skin out that looks like the IPB admin CP. if you notice Topids and posts is not in any of the IPB setups.and if you notice below every content box in the admin CP it has the IPB copyright so thats another flaw of this scamer's mistakes. Also missing the help and support tab

That's the IPB 2.1 ACP.Three, Topics and Posts is in the 2.1 ACP (Just maybe not THERE).Four, your first clue should have been "Source Usernamed"
