ArunOnline Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 thanks for the reply Will. If I update using the 'upgrade pack', will I loose all modifications ?
dflorin Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 depends on what modifications you have. if none of them affected the changed files, you will keep them. that is why i asked for a changed files list. by the looks of it, i think it will be very easy this time. time to dust the old file compare utility.
M4XiMUS Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Hello, I have ipb 2.1.4 it is the same for updating ? thx
Alex Duggan Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 How important are the templates rebuild? When I updated my forum, it wouldn't get past this section.....however, it says that my forum is updated. Unfortunately, it won't let me go back. There's no need to rebuilt the templates (other than if you're using IP.Blog for the big-fixes) as they haven't changed.
Steve G. Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Hello, An update pack for ICB (v1.2.2 -> v1.2.3) and IG (v2.0.6 -> v2.0.7) for soon? :)
dflorin Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 hm.... many of the changed files only have non-executable changes )release number and another line, in the comments at the beginning)...
Nimdock Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Updates, updates! :D :wub: Thanks for the great job, keep it up! :thumbsup:
crazyapples1 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 How do i upgrade from 2.1.5 to 2.1.6 with the upgrade patch? Do i run upgrade.php?
Bamfer Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 There is a driver error that is preventing me from downloading the 2.1.5-2.1.6 upgrade patch mySQL query error: SELECT * FROM download_packages WHERE download_id= AND download_allow LIKE '%,2,%' SQL error: SQL error code: Date: Thursday 04th of May 2006 02:09:00 PM
Alex Duggan Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 How do i upgrade from 2.1.5 to 2.1.6 with the upgrade patch? Do i run upgrade.php? Simply upload all of the included files and run /upgrade/index.php :)
bfarber Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 hm.... many of the changed files only have non-executable changes )release number and another line, in the comments at the beginning)... 2.1.6 combines all of the recent security patches, so some of the issues were actually already fixed for 2.1.5. :thumbsup:
W1lz0r Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Hello, An update pack for ICB (v1.2.2 -> v1.2.3) and IG (v2.0.6 -> v2.0.7) for soon? :) There is no update pack for the Blog. The reason being that almost all source files have been modified due to the changing of the SQL query build syntax. This new version of the Blog contains a lot of minor bugfixes. Having said that; there is an upgrade readme in the download package.
Samm Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 can i ask where this upgrade came from. i had heard that 2.2 was the next upgrade and i see this one. i'm just curious.

Michael P Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Is there any chance of releasing the changes to the ACP security updates image? One of my licenses expired at 2.1.5, and the admins there would like to know when security updates are released etc. (I noticed you now release the security updates publicly again - which is excellent :) )
Mesmer Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 can i ask where this upgrade came from. i had heard that 2.2 was the next upgrade and i see this one. i'm just curious.(...) however we would not want to leave our customers open to any known security exploits, so we are releasing 2.1.6 which covers all current known issues. The files ONLY fix the security exploits reported, and add the new version indicator system to the ACP.
Brandon C Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Exactly - we aren't releasing any more maintenance releases, however we would not want to leave our customers open to any known security exploits, so we are releasing 2.1.6 which covers all current known issues. The files ONLY fix the security exploits reported, and add the new version indicator system to the ACP. Unfortunately, modified or not, this is one of those upgrades I'd highly recommend everyone install. :) I was just about to upgrade my IPS Community Suite, but after reading this, I can barely believe my eyes: http://www.ipsbeyond.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6856 <_< . What is that (topic linked above) all about?! :huh: An exploit for IP.Board 2.1.6 found?!
dflorin Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 i think that is about a mod (reputation). it has nothing to do with ipb.
cooldude7273 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Little late here people, I already got hacked. >_<
wyzrd Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 When doin' the upgrade it messed up my skin now when I try to reinstall the skin it won't reinstall correctly.
Steve G. Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Hello, An update pack for ICB (v1.2.2 -> v1.2.3) and IG (v2.0.6 -> v2.0.7) for soon? :) - ooops, nevermind, i found. :blush:
Quillz Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Thanks, IPS. I took two minutes to update my board from 2.1.5 to 2.1.6. This is the first time I've ever updated IPB on my own, and it was very simple. What actual security exploits does 2.1.6 fix, though?
