The issue you are have here is coming from your custom theme unfortunately. You can see errors being thrown constantly in your system logs
OK, went to non customised theme. Issues seem to have gone, can I re instate Cloudflare?
-
All the details are correct they have suggested I will need to whitelist your IP?
Or infact to skip that, using FTP enforcer ive disabled it temporarily. Could I ask you one more time to try again...so so sorry about this 😞
..and great timing too - same error occurring! And I cache the system about 10 mins ago too which is worrying

That is intentional
I see thanks, ill go back to hosting and see where the problem lays with the FTP and come back to you when I have this resolved. Thanks Marc

Hi Jim, as per above could this be when I update the password with 12 characters it only shows 8 dots ie inferring the password is wrong or is this just how it shows in invision?

Before giving you the green light I did ask hosting to check they could get in, and they could...

Would recommend pausing entirely as CloudFlare will still enable many other features while in development mode.
Roger that - so thats done.
Patch done and CF paused. Ill report back when I know more...👍
Furthering that its already doing the same issue by reloading the page instead of opening the profile when clicking on the hamburger. If you online and can take a look (before I cache again I guess?) that would be ace...

Before we continue, please apply the patch showing in your admin CP, and also disable cloudflare. Once done, please let us know if this is still happening
Patch done 👌
Can I consider turning on “Development Mode” to bypass caching while preserving protection in cloudflare Marc or shall I just pause it in its entirety?

We can use either. Its for you to tell us on those settings which you wish for us to use
Thanks Marc. When I update the password its 12 digits long, but after saving and re checking it shows 8 'dots' ie inferring the password is 8 digits long. Is this standard or for security or..?
If thats just the way it shows up and we are all good then fine, you should be all good to get in now...🙏

If you take a look at the guide here, it shows where you update details
Note, if you are looking for the details as you mention, you will not get the password as its not shown
Thanks @Marc Stridgen amending these now. Do you connect via FTP or SFTP...or have I asked a noob question and they are one and the same thing?
-
@Jim M Sure thing will do Jim, ill drop them an email right now. Where can I see the FTP access details on file so I can query them with hosting and update when I have the new details? Many thanks!!

Thanks! Taking a look...
@Fubra, please check the FTP access details on file. They are inaccurate.
Hey Jim thanks for taking a look. Sorry I dont know the FTP access or how to update it im non technical apologies. Are we bust then, without this you are unable to diagnose the issue?
-
@Jim M ill just @ you so you know for sure, hope you dont think im being rude

We would need both. The error that you're seeing and the error in place.
If your online, its doing it right now.
On mobile if you click the hamburger icon it just refreshes the page and on desktop if your click the profile pic to drop the menu this too just refreshes the page too
Ill hold off doing the cache for 5 or so mins in the hope that you can get in and take a look...
-
..although just to clarify as it drives everyone mad, I can clear the cache but just need to tell you the time at which the problems were occurring? Or you want to see the errors 'live' yourself ie no cache?
-

Could you please see if you can pinpoint the time it nexts happens, then leg us know that time so we can investigate accordingly? I suspect they indeed may be, but I would need that to know for sure.
Please also leave the issue in place while I take a look
Sure thing! Thanks Marc

That is correct. Has this resolved the problem for you?
Yes it does...but only momentarily. It can work again for several hours or sometimes a few days...before the same issues occur again.
Any ideas Marc??
Are the errors in the logs the same issue as the caching issue or separate do you know Marc? Im trying to isolate and trying to nail down something to fix today, as its been a couple of weeks like this now.

Are you using Template Cache in ACP -> System -> Advanced Configuration? If so, try disabling that to see if there is a writing issue with your cache.
Hey Jim, thanks so much for your reply. Was this aimed at me too...? I am caching using this in support:
Right or wrong...or theres a better way? Thanks

This issue is continuing. I have to clear the cache often. This is a busy site, and people are getting frustrated.
Same, there is now a thread on the forum about how useless the forum has become

I am not sure who others are using, I am using Hostek.
No im not using them...
5 hours ago, Square Wheels said:This happened to me too last night.
I went to the ACP, cleared the cache, and it was fixed.
Now it did it again.
Same thing, go to ACP, clear cache it works again.
Yes same. Mixed in with some 404 errors today. We havent yet implemented the theme change was hoping to get it done today/last night but ran out of time. Hopefully that could fix some/all of the issues
-
I think it is the theme as every single 'box' on the forum (even in ACP) does look or scale properly, will report back though

If you don't have any theme in ACP without the Customized text you can add a new default non-edited one by clicking the + Create New button top-right.
Either Easy Mode or Manual Mode will do for testing.
Thanks! Will try this now...if its goes wrong, I can always just switch it back right..how likely am I to break something beyond repair lol?!
1 minute ago, Randy Calvert said:Just make sure to give it a name like "New Default" or something so you know which one you're actually selecting! Also make sure once it's good that you remove the old bad "IPS Defaults" and set the new one as the theme for all members. 🙂
Gotcha, thanks Randy.
Im going in - here goes!

Does the error go away if you switch to a default, unedited theme?
Hey @teraßyte thanks fotr your message; it could be that the theme is too old in fairness...
I havent tried to switch to the default theme...that could fix it..how do I switch to that to test?
aha. The plot thickens Baldrick. So do I just set that as the theme and run that test?

Hey folks just wanted to circle back on this as im still getting a ton of system errors:

#10 {main}A cache clear will help in fairness but its a short term fix and the same issues keep coming back...
Could anyone tell me what to action (or more to the point as someone to action...!)
Thanks a million!
As an example, right now, on mobile it wont let me open the hamburger (to view profile etc) all it does when I click it is refresh the page. Which as you can imagine is driving my forum member nuts

Thanks ill do this now Marc 😇

Would need to empty your template cache directory on your server. Sounds like your server had a write issue which is causing it to be out of date.
Judging by your stacktrace, that is at: /home/housepri/public_html/forum/templatescache/
I understood 'server'. That links to hosting - ive fired off a support email to my host. Thanks
2 minutes ago, teraßyte said:It's also possible your theme is too old and needs an update. From which version did you upgrade exactly?
Not sure, it just pops up saying 'Jan update' or something like that, when im logged in as admin.
Urgent help required: 'reply box' gone after forum upgrade
