I'm generally pretty excited about this, it's always good too see change.
I do have one concern though, and that's that the filtering option on the current 'Providers Directory' isn't really too helpful in terms of what the creators provide.
It would be far more useful to have perhaps examples of their work on that page rather than being re-directed to a whole external site for me to sit and sift through to find what I potentially might be looking for - it almost feels like im going to be endlessly searching for a developer who suits my needs.

Like I said though, excited to see the change and whats to come of this. Thanks, Invision! ❤️

True but not all. I had plans to release multiple themes at once on the marketplace that I've been working on them for a long time now and still working 😛

But it's a change that we all need to adapt to it and with that said I will need to start creating my own portfolio and a marketplace-web.

The best way to kill a community is to refuse to keep up with new ways that people consume content.

My goal is to provide a listing directory to make it easy for developers to list their apps.
A directory will provide visibility, scale, and ease for everyone to visit.
Developers will handle payments and support on their own.

To Marketplace developers and the Invision community as a whole, I will be happy to host an independent and collaborative Marketplace directory.  It's already in the works.
I fully support a thriving ecosystem of developers and clients: to extend, to inspire, and to push the boundaries of our platform. Technology is an important differentiator more than ever in the modern web, and working with developers (either privately or through their public mods) can help fine-tune your platform.

More information and invitations will be sent out to active Marketplace devs.  You are also welcome to send me a direct PM.

Right, so this bodes well for well known and established devs as they have already created a foundational trust model with clients.  For new devs, that's a barrier they'd have to create over time.  Meanwhile, clients either have no way to validate new devs work like IPS previously did to guarantee the safety of the app/plugin.
I think this greatly elevates the risk for clients and subsequently harms the potential for developers to grow the product.  Hobbyist sites will suffer the most as they simply don't have the resources to invest in robust security evaluation.
Perhaps another opportunity for a dev to provide some level of AppSec and InfoSec scanning of applications to lower the risk.

The developer is not around anymore (at least for now?). Unless they renew their license, their modifications won't be available for purchase.
