  1. Dang. Seems like upgrading is just not going to happen for me after all, and the slowness of my board will forever happen now.
  2. I ended up deleting all of the manually-installed files, and it allowed me back into the Admin CP and board, and when I just update the PHP is tells me there are database issues, which is causing the update to not continue. Could that be opcache, too? Or something else?
  3. K. Was able to delete [most] of the newly-installed files and go back to PHP 7.4, which restored my site, so is it the PHP that is failing, because when changed to PHP 8.0 or PHP 8.1, it does state what is captured above that there is no application available to upgrade!
  4. Oh my heavens!! WHAT HAPPENED?! This is why I hate upgrades... did I just lose everything?! My Admin CP is now gone. Oh no. Did I just kill everything?! I should've just run the upgrader instead of manually installing. Oh no. Oh no. I'm freaking out.
  5. Yeah; I've never backed up before. I've got into cPanel, under "Web Hosting" and via the cPanel Admin, I requested the "Download a Full Account Backup" back up of my site as of 10 minutes ago (10am) and have that downloaded. I also downloaded my web host's automated midnight-time back up incase. And it sounds like the cPanel backup is the right one to have, thankfully, so I can go in and begin updating. 👍🏻
  6. Oh, I wasn't speaking in regards to the sixth point; yes, it's confusing, but I'm sure I can handle it.. My mentioning: "And I'm confused about how to re-upload it if I don't enjoy the update!!" is in regards to my back up if I need to re-install the back up (if the cPanel back up one is the right now!) Sorry, guys. I'm a complete moron!
  7. So, I have two different back ups available: one directly from my host (GoDaddy.com) and one from my cPanel. I'm assuming my cPanel one is the one I should download, yes? And I'm confused about how to re-upload it if I don't enjoy the update!! Ugh. So many steps. Once updated, I'm never missing one again!
  8. Avatar image;I know it can be changed on the side view of posts size-wise.
  9. Do you remember where within the theme this is? I used to have it saved, but changed systems and lost it.
  10. Thankfully, I have the domain I believe. Just need to set it up, I guess! I'll have to go in and see how it works out! Thank you for the assistance! 🙂 I'll have to test this out shortly, because it makes me wonder if this'll also determine if my site's speed is because of how outdated my IPS/IPB is.
  11. I'm going to sound super stupid, but how do I go about setting up a test site, then?
  12. Yeah; I was pretty consistent in updating till the last one I did, and then that update caused my layout to break and I wasn't able to post anything on my board for one-month till someone pointed out how to fix it, hahaha. So that scared me.
  13. Why did I wait so long? Ugh. This is going to be painful, but I definitely have to begin looking into the process of upgrading at this point.
  14. Oh thank goodness returning to PHP 7.4 worked, haha. That was scary for a long minute. Pretty sure I'm on the release right before 4.5.4.2, as that's the first update warning I see. I could access my Admin CP under PHP 8.1, so could I upgrade to that and then run the upgrade via Admin CP for the latest IPS/IPB? Sorry. I'm not the brightest person in the world. Ha. I'm surprised I even got IPS/IPB installed hahaha. Also wish I knew how to run test upgrades. Gosh. Y'all must think I am pathetic.
  15. Well, I have the backup my host has, and I upgraded my PHOP, and my site is immediately down. Cannot access it. I should've just not touched anything. ughhhh.
  16. True. Very true. It's just biting the bullet that is scary. Like I stated previously, the last major update I did was scary and left me with a bit of lasting whiplash!
  17. Do you still recommend upgrading? Honestly, my forum has been slow-loading for quite some time, but I guess there is no guarantee upgrading will cause that to cease.
  18. 👍🏻 Yeah. I've got to do [some] of this... but my last experience was a bit scary, and I hate change haha.
  19. Dang. Was hoping it would be; or maybe a lovely community person could develop something, because it would be a lifesaver sometimes, especially with the same posts coming weekly, etc.
  20. The problem is the recent release of IPS is not one I wish to install onto my board. Guess I'll just keep pressing "X" every 24 hours. I completely agree. Seeing it every 24 hours is a bit much... it is up to us to either upgrade or not upgrade. It has nothing to do with a security update. It has to do with the release of the new forum release itself, and not wanting said-release installed. I could understand if a board were running 4.6 release, but not if one is still running 4.5 by choice.
  21. Hey, I don't know if it is at all possible, but is there a way to disable the upgrade banner that pops up every single 24 hours without updating or having to click "X" every single time??
  22. I know @Pete T was updating for a time, did update for the prior release, but, in turning over his site, the files were deleted. Wonder if any of his [former] members are members here and have those last updated files?
