  1. Can you include setting to disable topic thumbnail in Search and Activity Stream?
  2. Dear @Ryan H. I've been playing a little more with the Advanced Tags & Prefixes over the weekend (mainly to clean up the mess of an open prefix system on my community ), and I was hoping to throw out a couple of larger suggestions over things that bother me regarding tags. (To be clear, these points bother me about the tagging system in general, not your app.) 1. Moderation over new tags - I've always offered an open-ended prefix system so my tags can organically grow over time. However, there's no way for me to moderate the growth or to ensure the relevancy of new tags without checking each new topic's tags and prefixes. As such, I'm wondering if you can consider adding a moderation tool for new tags (eg. they need to be approved first by Moderators before they appear; otherwise they remain hidden). 2. Relational schema - I don't really know how to properly describe this, but in essence .. some sort of relationship-based system among the tags that can provide a logical and hierarchical categorization. Here are two examples of relationships: Equivalency: The tags "dog" and "canine" are equivalent to each other, so if a user selects one of the tags to discover more content, he gets content tagged with both since they are the same. This is a huge problem for me as my users will define new tags like "dog" "dogs" "canine" and "hound" when they're all the same. Parent-Child: The tag "dog" is a child tag of "animal." So if a user selects "animal," then he gets results from "dog" "cat" and "cow." Right now, the tagging system is one big pile where all tags are equally distinct and independent. I'm wondering if you can help bring some sense of order to tagging? Maybe?
  3. I think it got worse ... After clearing cache, now I don't see regular Topic Thumbnails in topic listing. Checked my custom theme and default theme.
  4. Show Topic Thumbnail in Forums = for most of my forums, not All. Is that a problem? Who Can See = All.
  5. Upgraded to IPS v4.1.0. Reinstalled Topic Thumbnail v1.1.7 from Marketplace (including plugin + upload files). Run support tool to clear cache. Still cannot see topic thumbnails in Activity Streams or Search.
  6. I do not see any topic thumbnail in my search or activity. I just tried to upgrade and upload newest version of topic thumbnail. Running v4.1.9
  7. Thanks for the update. And the new feature of showing thumbnails in the Activity Stream.
  8. I would LOVE if topic thumbnails were used in Activity Streams.
  9. Thank you for updating this plugin.
  10. Congrats on the release and thank you for maintaining the application.
  11. Suggestion: if the image is not found, use default image. For example, I have forum images / attachments that are broken since they were deleted. Topic thumbnail shows broken images.
  12. A minor fix for you: when you click on the "Update Available!" message via the ACP, it redirects to your devfuse website which does NOT list the latest 2.4.8 version. It might be better to direct users to the official IPS Marketplace? Also, thanks for the latest release and ongoing support.
  13. Suggestion: rich snippet linking displays Topic Thumbnail, not Topic Author. In the example above, the rich snippet includes the profile photo of the topic author / OP. My suggestion is to replace the profile photo with the topic thumbnail, which I think is a much more powerful and visual indicator of what's in the topic.
  14. I've been debating how to respond to this paragraph for 3 weeks, since the integration / fragmentation between IP.Board and IP.Gallery is truly a perplexing problem for me. You bring up some questions that I'd like to address, even if I can only begin to scratch the surface. For my particular community, I genuinely don't have a good reason as to why I still use image-only forums AND still offer IP.Gallery. I actually have duplicate content areas for TWO subjects in both IP.Board and IP.Gallery (yes, it drives me crazy), and it really just depends upon the uploader where he wants to be (which is why I'm a fan of seamless integration either direction to show media). Some general observations, in no particular order: In general, the forum tends to be the main 'hang out' area with more activity, so it makes sense to offer space there first. You just don't get the same feeling of 'activity' in IP.Gallery, so members are naturally more attracted to the forums. Viewing gallery images is more of a solo activity. Forums are great for progressing image topics. where new updates are posted in new replies. Galleries are great for a curated showcase. My personal difficulty with the enormity of this question - how to consume, view, and share content in a multi-app platform - is how you can change your interaction with the same content through multiple perspectives. For example, you can interact by publishing module: IP.Board -- with categories to publish about Content A, Content B IP.Gallery -- with categories to publish about Content A, Content B It's equally valid to interact by theme: Content A -- with permission to publish to IP.Board, IP.Gallery Content B -- with permission to publish to IP.Board, IP.Gallery Ultimately though, I decided a long time ago I shouldn't force my members to choose one app or the other. IP.Board and IP.Gallery both equally valid places to upload, since they can both still serve the fundamental purpose of being an image container.
  15. Can you explain in more detail:
  16. One thing that I thought was a very powerful feature of Coppermine Photo Gallery was the concept of "virtual images," where an image would be uploaded to ONE album, but could appear in MULTIPLE albums as filtered by tags. This provides a much more powerful and dynamic framework for creating cross-over albums. The classic example is a gallery on zoos ... you can create albums for zoo locations (Wellington Zoo, Toronto Zoo, San Diego Zoo) and by zoo animals (African elephants, pygmy hippo, etc.) I like your idea though, which is to take the idea one step further for the entire suite.
  17. Is this compatible with v4.1.6.1? I get a server connection error whenever I try to reenable this plugin!
  18. I've suggested this before myself, and it would be a helpful and visual indication of the difference in categories. I used this feature to really customize my forums, and it really helped each forum board differentiate themselves.
  19. My problems: One album with 100 images blows up the Activity Stream. You get a flood of images, even though it's a single album.* Clicking IP.Gallery image in AS opens up lightbox, even though underlying premise of AS was content discovery and not content interaction. Shouldn't it open in the IP.Gallery application? A thought regarding Images in an Album: this is the same corollary as many Posts in a Topic, and the concern of the OP. Users may not want to be notified of each individual content item, but of the content container (eg. Album or Topic) which is far more visually efficient when there are multiple related content items in the same content container.
  20. Perhaps a stupid question, but when I upgrade: I overwrite the existing files with new files Delete old hook and add new hook??
  21. I'm in the same position as @superj707 where I have forums meant to showcase iimage, and then I have Gallery. Since the underlying purpose is the same, the it makes sense to be able to 'push' content into the Gallery. There are multiple ways to implement and they're all acceptable. In fact, the grand variety of ways to combine the two apps is what makes the integration such a fascinating and compelling feature! - you can define uploads in the forum topic to go to Gallery - you can define uploads to be pushed into a virtual album that can be viewed in Gallery as well - you can define a hybrid where you choose to upload to both Gallery and to My Attachments - you can simply Insert Album into the forum post - you can upload to My Attachments per user, which lends more to a social experience tird around users - users automatically get a Community Album by default Etc. I don't actually care how IPS implements the cross-over promotion (that's what we pay them for, so they can figure it out, right?) So long as they implement something. But right now we have nothing. Will it perhaps require expanded permissions of categories and Albums in Gallery? Perhaps. Admins of users will need to decide if they allow forum uploads (or on a broader scale, if they allow any community image). Will it also require expanded settings in forum topics or in forum boards? Probably. Theres a ton of complexity in this that I can't even begin to understand. But its in that complexity that there's the most potential for growth and entire sets of new features.
