  1. You don't have to beta test it if you don't want to. But if you ever looked at the production of many video games, they are beta tested to extremes. Same with software and other electronic products. Even tangible products are "beta-tested." There will always be a marketing survey, trial & error, and research on private grouped consumers prior to major release to the public.

You also should realize that when a product is being tested, bugs are being removed. Every build is more efficient than the previous one. Beta testing & beta testers are not "a measure of the general consumers needs and expectations for this product." It is simply to test to see if the product is working efficiently.

Here is my guess. RC 1 will be released sometime in may, and the final product will be released approximately 2 weeks after RC 1.

  2. I went here: 1. Tools & Settings >2. System Settings >3. System >4. Server Environment

To enable friendly URLs but it's not happening. How is this supposed to be done in beta 5? I have imported a test database fine. All of the (thousands and thousands) of existing threads do not have friendly URLs.

  3. Quick question.

During the upgrade phase from 2.3 to 3.0 final, will the past subscriptions be remembered along with existing packages? I installed ipb 3 beta 5 on a test board and upon registration page the packages weren't available. I suppose this was done intentionally since subscription manager hasn't been released.

  4. When is the Subscription Manager going to be added to IPB 3? I can not convert over until this happens.

Any updates being made to the subscription manager? I am one that feels a major overhaul is needed.

Is there a better way to manage subscriptions for the IP Services Board, blog, gallery etc?

    Thank you,

    Keith

Me too. From what I heard, it will be released as a community project once IPB 3 is released. What I believe that means is, on the day of release, a working component of the subscription manager will be available for you to download. Additionally, the subscription manager will be released as an "open project" which will allow third party developers to work and improve the existing system.

If I am mistaken with anything I said above, I hope a staff member can correct it.
