Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
yoganiketaninc Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 We have a legacy message board that was hosted on a gridserver at Media Temple until it was bought out by Godaddy. Godaddy was not able to get the board working with the Media Temple files, so we transferred the board to Siteground, but posts before April 2020 are missing. The board had posts back to 2012. Our last backup file is from November 2020. Siteground is telling us that the new version of the Invision software is not compatible with the backup. I believe the backup is on version 3 of the software. Can someone please advise?

Your backup file probably contains a database backup. If this is the case, have your host install this database in server, then open the upgrade_history table - the current version of the IPB exists there. Then write which version you have in backup, probably someone has the files for the version you need so your host can revive your story.
teraßyte Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Yeah, if the backup contains only the database, you'll have to first upgrade that database to the last version. In case you already have a forum up and running with data, you'll need to use the converters app to import the data from the old backup into your current forum. Marc 1
