Vakarian96 Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 I have a question about IPS Spam Defense and the GeoIP module. If I uncheck the Send repots back checkbox, exactly what data does IPS receive, is it stored and to which country is it sent? And what data IPS receives when I enable the GeoIP module? Sorry to ask this, but in the EU such a module in its current form is a bit difficult to use and we have problems with spam. Kind regards, Vakarian Princess Celestia 1
Marc Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 If you uncheck sending reports back to IPS for the mark as spam option, it will send nothing back to IPS on marking an item as spam.ย On the GeoIP side of things, the IP address would be sent to IPS only, in order to return the ip lookup information, but no identifiable information is sent ย Vakarian96 1

I was a bit puzzled about this option: Action to take for communication error? What exactly does that do?

If you had the Spam Defense enabled and it wasn't able to communicate to our servers to see if the user was spam, what action would you want the system to take.ย

If your server canโt communicate with our spam defense server due to a connection error, there would be nothing to be received because there is a communication error preventing the two from talking.
