After changing the memory limit in PHP, are you receiving the same error message? Even if it has changed slightly, that information is key to next steps.

Tis is the answer fom the support of myhoster:

vielen Dank für Ihre Anfrage.

Laut Errorlogs reichen nun auch die 512 MB nicht (mehr) aus. Das deutet hier eher auf einen Fehler in einem Script hin. Haben Sie an Ihrem Forum kürzlich etwas geändert oder hinzu installiert?

Thank you for your request.

According to the error logs, the 512 MB are not (anymore) sufficient. This rather indicates an error in a script here. Have you changed or added anything to your forum recently?

this just came from the provider:

the entry in the -user.ini is correct. Therefore 512 MB are currently used. Currently the following message appears frequently in the log:

PHP Fatal error: Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported in /www/htdocs/w00afc19/pinsandparts/register.php on line 851

This is not a part of our software, I'm afraid.

I appear to be getting a Service Unavailable rather than a 500 Internal Server Error here when attempting registration. This would indicate the memory limit likely is not related here. Could you please elaborate how you were getting the 500 Internal Server Error?

Maybe these are fractals from very old versions?

We never had a "pinsandparts" directory, I'm afraid. That path isn't where our software is located anyway on your server.

Pinsandpart is an other website! oeffelke.de also!

Forum is in start/forum

Precisely what I was mentioning 😉 .

The email I used was fake so expected to bounce.

Now the forum is no longer accessible due to maintenance?

Are you trying to help?

We are not actively doing anything. Your community is online for me.

I get 503

Service Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later

Seems this is the end of the forum...

That is a server error, I'm afraid.

I would suggest uploading a fresh set of files from your client area. That would indicate an out of date file or a modification in the file that is not compatible with PHP 8.

There are also patches available which will be applied when you upload a fresh set of files from the Client Area.

How do I do this and do the forum entries/users remain intact? Unfortunately I am not an IT specialist...

Simply login to the client area and download a full package of software, much like you would if doing a fresh install, and unzip the archive to your computer. It will create a folder named "ips_xxxxx" where xxxxx is a random string of characters. Then use an FTP client such as Filezilla and upload the contents of the ips_xxxxx folder (not the folder itself) to your forum main directory, overwriting when prompted and making sure all files transfer without error.

These are just the core files which run the software, it will not impact your data.

OK, found it! Now copy only the 8 folders inside complete to the server?

You should upload them inside whatever directory that you have used to install your forum. And as mentioned above, make sure to overwrite your current forum folders and files.

Forum is running and login works!

But now the forum shows me in Admin Area that there are modified files:

Some of the source files for Invision Community have been modified.

  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/applications/core/extensions/core/MemberFilter/Achievements.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/applications/core/extensions/core/MemberFilter/ProfileFields.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/system/Content/Content.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/system/Content/Item.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/system/Login/Handler/OAuth2/Custom.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/system/Login/Handler/OAuth2/Google.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/system/Member/Member.php
  • /www/htdocs/w00afc19/start/forum/system/Text/Parser.php

You should download an unmodified copy of those files and upload them to your server. Once that is done, check if the problem persists.

Can I download the unmodified files without lost of information?

These are new files as it looks like due to the patches released the upgrader will need to be ran. You will want to process the upgrade by adding /admin/upgrade to your base URL. After this you should be fine 🙂 .
