Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Lisa Lightner Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 My forums are privately hosted on a subdomain of my main website. Twice yesterday I had people email us and say that they were asked to enter credit card information. Both are insisting that my site was hacked. My forums are free and do not require a credit card. I told them this in an email response. I'm trying to figure out if they clicked on an ad that is malicious (in which case adthrive needs to investigate and remove it) of what exactly happened. Any advice you have is appreciated. Yes, I have already reached out to my host and adthrive. LL
Marc Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Its impossible to really say without more information. Did you ask what the link is they were on when they were ask for that information? This will help you determine at least if it is on your site or not
Lisa Lightner Posted October 27, 2022 Author Posted October 27, 2022 My host and adthrive both ran multiple scanners on it for malware and it came up clean. Of course, that's not what my readers/members want to hear.... that it's your device that is likely infected. But I had to do my due diligence and at least see if others had experienced this.
Marc Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Of course. Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it
