Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
bern5 Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Since upgrading to 4.5 the side block - Topic Feed directs all users to the start of the topic instead of the 'last unread' reply. is this an error?
Daniel F Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Since 4.5 users can configure where they want to be redirected https://invisioncommunity.com/settings/links/ bfarber 1
bern5 Posted November 3, 2020 Author Posted November 3, 2020 (edited) OK thankyou.. Users are also saying the New Topics use to be in bold (UNREAD) but now they are all showing as READ. have we lost this ? Edited November 3, 2020 by bern5
bfarber Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Read/unread topic status cannot be represented in a sidebar block because the block is cached and reused for all users.

The behavior you are describing may have appeared to be there previously, however it did not work correctly unless you had block caching set so low that block caches were effectively not being used.

OK is there a setting for block cache? or is it the sitewide cache setting.
Morrigan Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 What they are saying is that this has been fully removed from this version because it would show whoever refreshed the page last when the cache was cleared. So it could have been showing unread topics for someone else that just happened to be the first person to refresh after the cache.
bern5 Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 OK so it has been removed. great i can let the community know.
