Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
markymids Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I have seen this image working ok on another Invision forum - however when I try to use it, it does not auto-embed, and when I add it manually - it does not animate, does anyone know why? https://imgur.com/a/IIlN1
newbie LAC Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Quote Imgur, specifically, was previously supported at one point, however they changed their API, so we had to remove support, unfortunately.
markymids Posted July 23, 2019 Author Posted July 23, 2019 Yeah I saw that, but it doesn't explain why if you add the image manually - it still won't animate? I think it has something to do with imageproxy.php maybe?
Stuart Silvester Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 If you're using the GD library, the image proxy won't be able to generate an animated thumbnail (only the ImageMagick option supports animated Gifs). There's also a setting (introduced in 4.4.4) to only use the image proxy for insecure images.

Thanks Stuart, I changed the setting to only use imageproxy for insecure images & the image I posted above is now working ok. However, I would prefer to host all images on my server. Most animated gifs work fine when served via imageproxy.php - can you think why this one doesn't? It is quite a large image (over 5mb) - would there be an option I could change to ensure all images, say, up to 10mb, are always animated?
