Those options are available now in database configuration:

It would not hurt if randomized and sorted by views options would be available. I would like to sort articles randomized so people would find all sorts of entries from my database. Also by views option might help to show most popular articles. 

That was something that I used a lot with blocks, don't know what happened.

Oh, I didn't know it used to be there. I hope IPS Team will add it.
