Updating IPB via Self Hosted

Hello I received errors on my update due to my files not being updated apparently on my side. Can someone who is self hosted explain the process of updating IPB? I am new to this and want to make sure I do it correctly and avoid data loss. Thank you!

What version are you on right now?

 

Manual approach:

1.  Take a database backup

2.  Download the complete package from the Client Area

3.  Upload the complete package via FTP

 

Magic approach:

Run the support tool

 

Panic approach:

Send in a support ticket

Hey Joel,

Currently on 4.3.3 I believe (whatever the previous version was). Since I installed my community manually, am I able to use the support tool to upgrade?

 

Yes, you're always able to use the support tool to upgrade / get new patches.  It's the recommended approach.

I couldn't find the proper CHMOD permissions in the IPS Help Guides. Send in a ticket.
