Profile Completion Per User Group

I'm surprised this isn't default or I just can't find it. If it's not, then I would add this as a feature suggestion.  I like the profile completion setup but don't see a way to have certain items be required by user group. There may be certain items of information to collect from certain user groups only and omit other user groups, specifically if you are using custom profile fields.

Typically this feature is used to prompt newly registered users to fill out some more profile details after their registration is completed. Can you detail a little bit more how you are using the feature? With its intended usage, it wouldn't really make much sense to have per-group restrictions on what to fill out or not fill out, because it is mainly aimed at new users.

His use case makes a lot of sense.  

- if you're in an advertiser group, you need to fill out your custom fields for your website

- if you're a vendor, you need to fill out your custom fields for address

- if you're a client versus provider, you need to fill out different personal  details,etc. 

I also think the profile completion isn't aimed at just new registrations.  How many of our boards have literally thousands of existing empty profiles that should be filled out for better engagement.

@Joel R pretty much summed it up. I have certain fields I'd like to have filled out by one user group and not another. I was going to require a field to be filled out as part of the completion tool, but it doesn't apply to all usergroups. I think offering a usergroup setting when creating steps, would be a good way to customize the information you are trying to get filled out.
